Hello ladies! I just wanted to say hello! Its been so quiet in here. I hope you all are well! I'm doing good...our raffle to help raise money for the first few steps of our adoption process started on Saturday. Its going well I think. Every little bit helps right? While hitting some garage sales this past weekend I finally found my glider and gliding ottoman for $20! I've been holding out! Only problem is, we got it home and stuck it in the nursery and it smells like smoke. I'm thinking cause it sat outside during the sale, you couldn't smell it. I'm furiously trying to get the smell out. I could get replacement cushions but they cost more than half of what the chair does brand new! I think I'll try dry cleaning and if that doesn't work, I'll consider it a loss. Well...I hope you all had a great weekend! Talk to you all later!

Hi Coley54....just happened to see this thread. We had a similar issue with smoke smell, and were able to get it out by putting bounce fabric softener sheets on the fabric, and then leaving them on for several hours or overnight...seemed to pull the smell out. It worked well for fabric upholstered interior car seats....maybe would work for you? Hope so....awesome deal on the glider!

Thanks for responding! I actually ended up calling a professional upholstery/carpet cleaner. He had me take the cushions (the inside is foam not batting) and stick them into garbage bags and suck all the air of the bag with a vacuum. Kind of like those space saver bags. This removed all the loose particles out of the cushions. Next he had me throw each of the cushions into the washing machine on the gentle cycle and then put them outside to dry in the sun. For the wood, he had me go over it with Old English furniture polish a time or two. It worked! There is no more smoke smell!

Oh shoot, I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier! I'm glad you figured out something that worked because that is a STEAL! My grandmother smoked like a chimney and died a few weeks before my wedding. She left my husband and I her house, but we couldn't live in it until we gutted it and redid the whole thing because of the horrible smoke smell. We did the Old English on her wood furniture and it worked great. My mother took her glider rocker and it took a long time to get the smell out of the cushions. It is amazing how that nicotine penetrates EVERYTHING.
