I have considered adopting. However, I don't think I could do an open adoption or a state side adoption. I want to adopt from overseas, but I worry that this will be seen as I am "picking and choosing" a child. Did any of you run into this?
We are not thinking of doing this anytime soon...Most likely in the next 10 years or so. But I want to be prepared.
Also, several years ago I placed a child for adoption. Could this affect my ability to adopt? Would it be seen as a bad omen?
I dont think international adoption will be seen as picking or choosing. I have a son form Guatemala and we may adopt from vietnam before long. We didnt pick or choose.
International adoption changes quite a bit over time, so I cant tell you what it will be like itn 10 years. But having placed a child will not exclude you from adopting as long as you can pass a homestudy (not that hard to do if you dont have a crimingal history or a history of child abuse).
