I'm Becky. Mommy to Maggie born in June 2010. She was our first after several years of trying. We're hoping to have more, but are ready to add adopted children to the mix as well!

I'm starting to research foster to adopt for our family. I know we're ready to expand, and I'm certain we're ready for a foster to adopt situation....I'm researching all the CAS info now, but hoping to find someone who's already seen the ins and outs of home studies and the PRIDE course. Looking for any info, guidance, been there done that advice I can find.

Anyone?

Hi Becky. Welcome to the adoption board.
I'm Anna. My dh and I adopted our 4th daughter through kinship adoption last year. I'm not from Canada but we took PRIDE classes as well. I'd imagine that aside from the info that's location specific, it's pretty much the same. I thought they were actually pretty helpful. And the homestudy was much easier than I imagined it.
Good luck on your journey! I'll be praying for you.

Thanks ladies. I had almost thought for a minute that no one else from Canada was around in this board. We're at the point of both trying to conceive and pulling the trigger on trying to get a foster to adopt placement.

I've heard rotten things about CAS in Ottawa and them not being overtly supportive of "foster to adopt" situations, and it made me a little skittish about connecting with our own branch here outside of Toronto. I know we're ready to start expanding our family, and I have this undeniably pull in my heart for an adopted child, but I'm so nervous about the emotional rollercoaster of CAS. I have no problems going through whatever we have to go through, but it's already mind numbingly scary.

Mind sharing your experiences?
