Whats a home study like? What happens? Do you just call someone and ask for it?
DH and I are considering adoption right now, so I have a ton of questions.
When we got custody of my stepson the court sent a social worker out to see his home life here(and his moms house to). She asked a bunch of questions, met the kids. She saw the house in the process. Is it like that at all?
sounds similar to what you went through with your step son. They will want to meet the family and will ask you questions about how long you've been married your likes, strenghts, weaknesses, parenting style and other questions. Will look around the house. I remeber being so scared to have our first visit and it ended up feeling like I was talking with a friend over coffee. We had a great social worker!!!
Welcome to the world of adoption and if I can be of any help I'd love too. We have two adopted children our daughter home in 2004 from Ethiopia at the age of 3.5months and our son home two months ago at 4.5months of age from Ethiopia.
