My dh and I are curious about whose name will be on the birth certificate. Will it be the b-mother or ours??? How does that work?

depending on the state. There is one issued with the birth parents information on it. Then when the adoption is finalized they seal the original and issue a new one with the adoptive parents on it

In Texas, the birthmothers name goes on the original. When the adoption is finalized after 6 months, the record is sealed and a new birth certificate is issued.

Thanks for the information! We are just wanting to know extra things like that because we can't never seem to find websites that explain certain things like that.

Our adopted daughter's birth certificate has my name and my husbands name as her parents. It is my understanding from my attorney that the original birth certificate was destroyed when the adoption was final.

I thought that they had to keep all of the information for the child when they get older in case they want to find their bio parents?? I thought that they were just "sealed records". Maybe I just misunderstood.

His birthmom was on the first one and a new one with our names will be issued at finalization. Of course his birthmom gave us the original for his lifebook...

I am a Birthmom and my name went on her original and then when the adoption was final a new one was issued with her parents name. The one with my name was sealed until she turns 18.
