We are going through DSS for our adoption and we are wondering who chooses us to adopt a baby. We know that the adoption agency for DSS approves the adoption but does DSS choose us to adopt a certain child or does the birth mother?
Is DSS Department of Social Services? Is it where the children foster children?
I would think that the state would let you know that they have a baby for you and see if you are interested.
I would think that if a birthmother is going to choose you, it would be thru an agency. That is how it worked for me. I went thru an agency and I was able to choose the adoptive parents.
I honestly have no experience with any state adoption other that what I have been told.
I hope that kinda helps you!![/b]
Yes, DSS is Department of Social Services. In my state they have their own agency for adoptions and then a separate agency for foster care. Since ours is going to be a newborn, our baby will not be placed in foster care. It will come home from the hospital with us. I was just wondering if DSS would just match us up with a baby or what? I have so many questions about everything. I guess that I will learn as I go along with the process. Its just scarey when you don't know what to expect. KWIM?
