Hi all! I am new to this site. I am the bio mom of 2 boys (14,9) and new mom to a beautiful baby girl from China. We have been home for 7 months and we're all doing great! The only issue we are having is sleep! Our little sweetie has a habit of waking up about 2 hours after going to sleep (I rock her then put her in her crib) and then waking again about every 2 hours or so from then on. I am exhausted. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your advice! Have a great day!
P.S. Marla, my sister Brie is a member of your Feb play group!
Hi Kerri and welcome!!!! I'm so sorry Leah is having trouble with sleep, is she really upset when she wakes up? Is her crib in her room or in with y'all? Just wondering if she might be missing the company she would've been used to in the orphanage.
I've read a lot about nightmares and night terrors being common in internationally adopted children. Jaden woke a lot too at first (she would be very disoriented and sometimes inconsolable), but within a couple of months was sleeping soundly through the night. All I knew to do was hold and rock her until she calmed down and then I would lay her back down (and she only wanted me, if Derek went in, she'd scream even louder). I always assumed it was a trust/attachment thing and that she just needed the reassurance that I was there and would come when she needed me.
Sorry I don't really have any brilliant suggestions, all I can say is hang in there! I can only imagine how tired you must be after 7 months and I certainly hope she is sleeping better soon. I'd love to see some new pics of her, I'm sure she's grown a ton since I saw her last!
