Dh and I are planning on possibly going through an attorney that my mil knows of when we decide to adopt. That's what my parents did when they adopted my brother. I just wanted to know if anyone else has elected to do a private adoption through an adoption attorney rather than an agency. If so, did it take longer to find a child and was it more expensive or cheaper to ge that way? Thanks.

We did a little research on it before we decided to go international.
I think the attorney adoption depends on the attorney. Most individual lawyers do not have the means to search for a birth mother for you. Adoption agencies tend to have the infrastructure and network to bring in birth mothers. In my opinion, what it comes down to is how many birth mothers are going to view your profile. The more that view your profile, the better chance you have at being chosen. If your attorney is purely an adoption attorney, he or she might have the network to provide you the support.

However, I think you said in a previous post that you want a closed adoption - If so, I have no idea how you are provided a referral since 95% of all domestic adoptions are open.

My only advice (since I am rambling and not making sense ) is to interview both attorneys and agencies. This is a huge decision and a good attorney or agency can make the process very easy or very difficult.
Good luck!
