On Tuesday night I was getting ready to pack to go to Florida for a work trip. The boys were playing with their toys and Jamison was playing with a toy car. The car had broken earlier (the tire popped off) and I fixed it by putting the tire back on. I stepped in to the bathroom and heard Jamison start screaming hollering. They'd been fighting a lot lately so I thought they were just fighting so I finished peeing and then stepped out and Jamison had blood all over him. I thought maybe he bumped his nose, but then I saw his cheek. He had a hole in it. He had fallen on that car and the tire popped off and the axel came out and the rod went through his cheek.

I immediately picked him up and hubby came running up and I grabbed my keys and hurried off to the ER, which is 3 minutes from my house. He was calmed down by then, but when we got in there, he was hysterical b/c he didn't want anyone to touch him. They put a patch with numbing stuff on it and then had to put some stiches in there. He got 3 stiches. What really made him upset was that they had to wrap him up like a mummy in a blanket so that his hands didn't get in the way when they were doing stiches. He cried for me the whole time.

It was heartbreaking. We were there 4 or 5 hours because we had to wait for numbing meds to kick in and then wait for other calming meds to kick in. It was a traumatic experience. He has dissolvable stiches and glue over that. They said it would leave a scar that would lessen over time. I am going to make sure to do all I can to help it heal. I am just thankful that the rod didn't go through his eye. I can't even think about that. The one thing I learned out of all of this is that I am throwing broken toys away immediately instead of trying to put them back together and any of their toys that could go through an eye are getting pitched like toy screwdrivers and things like that. Anyway, just wanted to give an update. He's doing good now though!
