Went as well as any other we've had, lol.
The doctor can't believe he's been seeing Nate since he was in the NICU (same doctor... we LOVE him.. he's like family at this point).
Nate still hasn't lost any vision in his left eye.. but hasn't made any more progress either. We've been patching almost every day for 2 years now. So we will start using drops. I will put one drop in his right eye on Sat and one drop on Sunday. He said it will affect his NEAR vision but his DISTANCE vision will be fine and not affected. This will stay this way almost the whole week. So he will have to rely on his left eye A LOT.
My only concerns are with school. Nate sees 20/60 out of his left eye WITH his glasses. I am going to call the lady that does his Vision Services/Therapy through the school system on Monday and discuss it with her.. see what her opinion is. He may need to not do the full day of school and just go 3 hours a day like last time? I really don't know. He's 4 so he doesn't HAVE to go school til next year anyways, lol.
The doctor said Nathan is just soo COMPLIANT and doesn't fight any of the therapies he hates to *give up and not keep plugging away at trying to get the vision a little better*
So that's where we are. I made Randy take Nate swimming as soon as we got home.. since he was i na car a total of 5 and a half hours today and sitting at the doctors for over an hour.. he needed to stretch out some and burn some energy!
And then Randy took him over to Jeremy's to watch the red sox game so i can have a few hours to decompress by myself...
Glad the appt. went so well and sorry to hear about the drops. Its kinda depressing to here that he's not making progress patching, but if the drops help, then its great in the long run.
And don't worry about Nathan going the full day at school. Alexid starting full days at 4 and she went 5 full days a week to the preschool program. Part of that was she had so many services she needed to fit in, but she really really did well and when we transitioned her to kindergarten where the learning demands were more she transitioned so well.
