natalie will be having surgery on both her eyes om january 18th. the dr said both of her eyes turn out when she tries to focus with the opposit eye. she said it is causing her double vision. i guess they will detach the muscle on the side of each eyeball align her eye where it should be and reattach the muscle further back on her eyeball. they said the wjites on the outer part of each eye will look bloody for about 3 weeks after surgery.

poor baby! Avery had both done as well. Hers both went in, so same surgery just opposite muscles.

I can tell you Avery's eyes were bloody but not bad. Very little. After 2 days the eye lids were a tad swollen. just a bit though. BUT after a week, her eyes were perfect!!

We were also told that it could take up to 2 weeks for the eyes to look straight, though we walked out of the hospital with straight eyes

I was going to post a new thread but it seems like your daughter is having the same surgery as my son. Caleb is 6 months old and is scheduled to have his on Jan 24th. He has alternating exotropia. He is only using one eye at time and the other just turns out. The way you discribed your DD's surgery is the same way the Dr. discribed DS's to me. Good luck and please KUP. I know I'm a nervous wreak!!
