I am new here. I have two sons ages 6 and almost 8. For a long while I noticed that they seemed pretty close to blind in the dark. To make a long story short, their eyeglass prescription has been changed a few times, but the doctor did not seem to think that anything was seriously wrong, and had checked their retina's and thought they looked perfect. We go every 6 months. Today, at our regular 6 month check, I mentioned, again, that they do not see in the dark. It doesn't need to be very dark, just a little dark, and that is enough for them to freak out and extend their hands in fear of running into something. It is sad and something that other family members and friends have noticed. She decided to do a tomography and just left me a voicemail stating that "both boys show some changes to the central part of their retina's" and that she will consult with a retina specialist who is out until next Tuesday and call me back.
I am sorry for venting and letting it all out here but I am so worried! anything I look online about children not being able to see in the dark seems pretty scary. Has anyone had a similar experience?
I just had 2 of my babies tested and confirmed having Retinitis Pigmentosa so I know how scared you feel im still in the shock stage myself and I got 2 more kids to get tested so you can imagine what im dealing with. You are not alone and please vent away cause it don't help to hold it in.
