He had eye muscle surgery on both eyes in September due to lazy eye. He then had his follow up appointment 10 days later. Then they gave him an appointment to come back today.
We took him. I guess his left eye is weak. They gave him a prescription. We have to put eyedrops in his eye every morning and he goes back to the doc in 6 weeks. I guess we put the drops in his right eye to blur it. So that he has to use his left eye more and so it can get stronger. It works just like the eye patch I guess.
I dont really understand it. How can his eye be weak? He had surgery to correct them and he wears glasses to correct his vision. What are the drops for? My SO went to the doc with him. I waited in the waiting room with Corey. I sent him in case they needed to give Kody eye drops. So since I didnt get to talk to the doctor I really dont understand it. My SO doesnt ask enough questions.
I agree. If you have questions, or are not sure why they want you to do this, I would call and ask.
Also, Alexis' opth told us when we were getting ready for her eye surgery, that with both strabismus and nystagmus correction surgery, one surgery may not be enough. Sometimes, the muscles will be tight after surgery from the reaction to the surgery, but may still be weak. Just a thought as too why his left eye may still be weak. But I would definately call the doc and ask the questions you have.
