I had a blood test on Monday which came out negative. I still havent started my period and i am 12 days late! I did have one home pregnancy test come back positive 5 days ago and i just assumed that it was a false positive. This may sound far fetched but is it possible to get false negative with a blood test? My sister suggested that i take another hpt. Is this a waste of time or should i take her advice? I am 32 and have never been this late before, except if i was pregnant.

I once had a blood test come back negative at 10 dpo, and a positive home POAS test 2 days later. I know 2 days can be a lot of difference but personally I take all negative tests with a grain of salt until AF arrives.

What type of test did you use the first time? Also do you know if they did a quantitative or qualitative test? Quantitative tells you the exact amount of hCG in your system and qualitative is just a yes or no like an HPT...that said a qualitative test can be wrong if you're really early in pregnancy. I personally would take another HPT but make sure it's a relaible one such as a First Response or Answer test. Good luck hun and keep us updated!
