i am 24. at 24 years of age, ive gotten married (three year anniversary next week), had two kids, currently expecting #3, own our home, have my career path paved, volunteer with the local humane society, and graduated college. i'm not old enough yet to even rent a car.
i work with an amazing boss (who is 57) and we all tend to forget that i am the same age as his youngest daughter. i don't feel 24, i feel much older. but living our lives in the slow lane was never an option for DH and i.
i always joke now that we aren't going to have anything to look forward to until retirement. anyone else feel older than they really are?
All the time. DH and I got married two days before my 17th birthday. I'd already been living away from home for two years before that. One of my favorite books from around that time contains a passage in which the main character admits that being married, buying a home, and starting a family seemed so surreal to her than she felt as though the "Adult Police" were going to come around and ask her what she thought she was doing playing house. So, I sometimes joke that I feel the same because I do find it to be very relatable at times. I've only been legally allowed to enter a casino for 2 years and I've already been married for 7. It's kind of amusing to me.
At 29 I have 5 children, a bachelors degree and about 24 credits beyond a bachelors degree. I have survived a deployment from dh with a child already. We've been married for 11+ years. We've been dating for 14+ years. We've bought a house. We've been foreclosed on. We've moved states for a job for me, twice. I've taught at 5 different schools. I've been the teacher some special education children loved and some think pushes them too hard. I've been the teacher that stayed after school beyond when her ride home was leaving on the very last day of school because a kid wasn't going to pass my Algebra class and become a sophomore if I didn't.
