I was 36w gestation with Avery when we had our 2nd ultrasound appointment to make sure everything was okay and measure him. Routine for my doctor. Well, the u/s showed that my amniotic fluid level was "dangerously low" and Dr. Ting said I had to be induced immediately. Mind you, my appt. was at 8 a.m. and I hadn't had breakfast yet and of course, they won't let you eat before you go have a baby. I had to pack my bag and report to L&D at once. I got there and they started pitocin and I started having cx immediately. I was in hard labor from 10 a.m. that day until midnight and only dilated to 1/2 cm. At midnight, I was pissed about everything, hungry, and in pain. I demanded they let me get up and eat and get some rest b/c this was obviously not going anywhere and if they didn't give me a break I wouldn't have the strength to push when the time came. Ting agreed and let me get some food. We started the pitocin again at 6 a.m. the next morning and the cx immediately started again. I was in labor all day long until about 6 p.m. when I finally got stadol (sp?) for the pain after much fits. After my 2nd dose (b/c the first one didn't help), my blood pressure went WAY up and Avery's heartrate went way down and Ting said if it happened again they would do an emergency c/s. Well, by then I was tired and feeling pretty crappy and I asked him if he thought I would ever make it to pushing (I was only dilated to almost 2 at the time also) and he said no. So we decided then to do a c/s b/c of failure to progress. At 7:13 that night, Avery was born.

Sorry so long, but there's my story.

I woke up about 4 am on the 21st of sept in 1999 to go to the bathroom, this was not unusual since I was 10 days away from my due date. Well I got back into bed and felt a thump? down there then warmth. First thought was I wet the bed. Then I said to myself...um no you just went. I woke up dh and told him I think my water had just broke. I sent him off to PT and told him we would go to the hospital when he got back. We went to L&D and they were sooo busy. After about 5 mins of waiting a nurse rudly asks "And what can we help you with" I said Um well I think my water just broke! I didnt have one contraction during the whole ordeal so I guess I was still in denial that I was about to have a baby. They take me in the doc says yep it is broke and uhoh the baby is breech. Well in the Army if baby is breech they take no chances and do c/s no matter what. As soon as doc said I was gonna have the baby my blood pressure shot up and I started shakeing. Took me in got me doped, didnt feel a thing. After they took him out of me I was sent to ICU for about 5-6 hrs b/c my pressure was still up. The worst thing about it was I couldnt hold my baby till almost the next day. But I really prefered the c/s. I had no labor pains at all and gotta love the cathader lol.

Ok here goes.
I didn't make my scheduled(sp?) c-section appt Bailee decided to break her water(she probally had had enogh) with the boys being on top of her so we went rushing to the hospital like crazy people and made it there in just the right time. I was getting prepped for surgery and they had me inverted on the table b/c they didn't think I would be able to hold out while they had rounded up all the doctors and nurses and to prep the surgery room. They ran with me on the bed over to the operating room and gave me my epidural and there was Alex looking like a tourist with cameras around his neck. He was so nervous and they started the surgery and out came Bailee screaming her head off that was a relief to hear. Then 3 minutes later out came Brock butt cheeks first, and not crying ,he had to have breathing help, but was ok after a couple days. Then 2 minutes later here came Bronson, I wish I could show you guys the video but it is graphic and not for the faint of heart, but he was pulled out in his bag-fully intact!!!!!!!! They set him in his bag on my stomach and the room went quiet It was the most awesome thing I have ever seen in my life( from watching the video). The doctors and nurses came over to see and there he was just floating in there so peacefully. I know that might sound gross, but I swear it was amazing. They broke the bag and he let out a small whimper and that was it, he also had help for a couple of days with his breathing. I had an easy recovery and was walking around later that day. That's my c-section story, sorry so long.

Ok, I promised my story so here it is!

I went into labor on Oct. 11. I lost my plug that morning and was having contractions most of the day but nothing consistant. At about 11pm that night I started having hard contractions. They were coming every 3-5 min. I timed them till about 2am and decided to wake up my hubby. We got things rounded up and left for the hospital. We got there and I was dialated 2cm. I was in sooo much pain that I got drugs right away. As soon as I could have the epi, I got it too!! This is were things start to get fuzzy. (I am telling you those were some good drugs!!) We kept trucking along and finally starting pushing at about 11:30 am on the 12th. I pushed for 3 hrs with little success. I could push her down and they could see her hair, but when the contraction was over and I stopped pushing, she sucked back up. They were going to let me continue pushing for a bit longer until her heart rate dropped and her 02 sats dropped. So they pushed the spinal block into my epi cath and had me sign consent as they wheeled me to the OR. A couple of min. later at 3:11pm on Oct. 12, 2000 Makinzy Payge made her entrance into this world. Come to find out, her cord was wrapped around her right arm and leg and she had turned to where she was facing the uterin(sp) wall. There was no way she was coming out. I think she did it all in protest!!!

Well there you have it! Short and to the point! I hope that this time I can have a succesful VBAC, so keep your fingers crossed!!

Ann, what an amazing story! I would love to see the video sometime, that would be so cool. They wouldn't let us tape my c/s for "security" reasons, whatever the hell that means. I wish I had a video though.

I could show it to you if you wanted to see it, it is very bloody and very emtional. I wouldn't have a clue how to show you though. You know we weren't supposed to video either and we were told no put I think b/c everything was so hectic that they hadn't even noticed that he was video taping. After a couple of days of the babies being born I had mentioned to my doctor that she should watch the tape it was awesome and she said that they would love a copy to show at some convention to prove that multiples water bags do not always rupture around the same time. I don't know but I gave a copy to her. Let me know Jeri.

My birth story/c-section story:
Well because of my disability I requested a scheduled c-section because I did not was no complications or have spasms which could have caused problems for the baby and me both. My doctor never argued my point. So when the date came I was suppose to be there July 10, 2002 by 6:00AM. What was funny or scary is I started to spot during the night-which were signs I could be going in Labor (my EDD was 7/14/02). So I was praying nothing would happen and baby would hold off. Ok now it is 7AM and I'm in the operating room, got prepped and had a spinal (ouch!) and all of the sudden I get sick to my stomach as I get numb. I am now throwing up (they give mew a tube to keep it from getting all over). I am laying down for 10 minutes when I finally ask the daddy "I wonder when they gonna start?" He goes, "they did 10 minutes ago!" LOL I couldn't believe it. I couldn't feel a thing! At 7:44AM Alexis Joella was born but I could hold her for two reasons; 1. I couldn't feel her and 2. she was below her temp so they whisked her away to get her body warmed up (they told me that can be normal for c-section babies). So a couple hours later I was able to hold her. I later found out what was making me throw up, it was the pain medicine that they gave me DEMEROL so I must be been allergic to it. That was the worse thing of the whole surgery me having to hold my stitches in while I threw up. I felt like I was in labor! Once I switched pain meds to Terrol I took it 2 times and never again remainder of my 6 week recovery. I had many surgeries in my life and this was one of my best! I lost 40 lbs just water. I did have some problems with my incision reopening because of water retention but with some precautions and with a visiting nurse for couple weeks I was fine. So there you go my c-section story. :-)

If there's a way, and you don't mind showing me I'd love to see it. That would be very cool. I wish we would've just taped anyway, oh well, maybe next time (if there is one). As for it being bloody and emotional, that won't bug me. I love watching birth stories on Discovery Health when I can, although the c/s ones usually make my incision hurt a little. Does that happen to anyone else?

I wonder if they won't let you video tape in fear of being sued. We bideotaped in the NICU but was told we couldn't tape the equipment or what the nurses were doing, like we wanted that anyway.

Here's my story. Nikolas broke his water during Bernie Mac. I think Andrew kicked it cause Nikolas was squishing him and he wanted the place to himself. Nikolas was born naturally at 9:00am with the help of an epidureal and forceps and he still tore me, and he wasn't even 4lbs. I got to see him for about 2 sec before they took him to NICU. He cried a very weak cry. They induced Andrew, he had no intention of coming out. My epidural wore off, but I started pushing. With every push his heart rate dropped. So the doc starts cutting and they're filling me full of halucigents (sp?) so I will forget that I'm feeling it. I keep hearing someone say ouch and I thought, I think thats me. Then I was on the deck of star trek. good drugs. When I woke up he was in the NICU. I found out later he wasn't breathing and had to be bagged. I was glad I didn't see that. It was 8 hrs later before they let me see him for the first time. All I could do for several days was touch him, I couldn't hold either of them for several days.

Ok here is my story.. I had been hospitalized 4 days earlier due to pre-eclampsia and had to be on bed rest... what a boring thing!! Anyways I had to have magnesium to help keep my blood pressure from getting any higher (it was 162/92 I believe when I checked in!). By Sunday I had already started to feel better and I was in a good mood, but by lunch time I was so sick that I was throwing up and in a ton of pain, my toxins levels had risen from 24 to over 100 something in not even 24 hours. So they finally gave me something to help me sleep around 2 or so. My poor boyfriend and his son had come to see me and I couldnt stay awake to even talk to them let alone talk at all. All I could do was throw up, I had severe cramping in my chest, think contractions but higher up! So by time the medicine worked it was 3 am when they woke me up to tell me we had to have Ryan that day (monday). They tried to start my contractions so I could have Ryan normally however he didnt like the medicine they gave me so they stopped it and by 430 -5am I had to get ready to have a c section. Nothing like calling everyone in the world to tell them I needed this person to do that and that person to do this... Ok so I am in the labor and delivery room waiting for my boyfriend to get there and in the mean time I am freaking out, I knew that labor or birthing in general was scary, but now I am scared to death the idea of having surgery scared the crap out of me! I had to wait a good 45 mintues or so before we could in and have Ryan, there was someone else who had to have an emergency section. Finally its our turn, they give me a spinal and I start shaking uncontrollably (sp), next thing I knew (mind you I am out of it from the spinal and the drugs from before and not sleeping) there was Ryan screaming his head off and wiggling all over the place! The nurse who examined him told me he had 5 fingers and 5 toes...lol and I got to see him for a brief minute and off to the NICU he went! It was an unbeleiveable thing! In the recovery room I couldnt wait to brush my teeth so the nurse let me lol and then I had a popsicile for breakfast... it was obvious I was feeling better!
There is alot more I am sure but being out of it before hand I dont remember to much!

Well here is mine..

I was admitted into the hospital Feb 17 (I was 31wks along) because of the protein level in my urine, so I got there and had to go through u/s and testing. I got the first round of shots for her lung maturity, then the next day I also got another set of shots. Feb 19 the dr came in an said she was going to be born today because my protein level was REALLY high. So I had to call dh to get there and my parents came too, Emilie was born at 11:10am Feb 19th, I heard her cry, but didnt get to see her until later that afternoon, she was SOOOO TINY!!! She was 2 lbs 7 oz!

We decided to induce labor bc I was majorly swelling and my bp was creeping on up. I went in on Sept. 10 2001 at midnight to start the induction. By Tuesday night (Sept. 11) I had not dilated at all! Nothing! So they kept me overnight to see if there would be any change the following morning but stopped all induction drugs. No change, they sent me home. I had to go to the dr. every other day for another week for blood work and to check the baby.

The following Monday, I had an appt. and this time my bp would not drop when laying on my side, so they wouldn't let me go home and again wheeled me down to L&D. This was around 11am on Monday the 17th. They started induction and kept going until Tuesday evening around 6pm. At that time I was tired, no contractions just major pressure, my stomach felt hard as a rock! Then my bp went up too much so they started mag through my IV. It burned sooooo bad, I was tired from the last day and a half and began to cry and asked for my doctor. I told her I can't do the mag, it hurt. So they ran it through the fluids first to ease the pain, that helped, but I was still wiped out and discouraged. She checked me and I was barely a 1cm. I cried again and said how long? I can't take much more of this and began to really cry. Then she said, lets try to break your water, which she did, but then all of the sudden I couldn't breath and had this horrible pain waaay low in my abdoment and began to panic. They gave me oxygen and then all the nurses run in saying that dd hb is dropping. So my doc said, let's just get this baby out now. They rushed me for an emergency csection right away. DD was born at 6:59 pm.

The magnesium was horrible. I was on it for 3 days after giving birth and it totally knocks you out and makes the baby lathargic. So we both slept for 3 days and she was hardly awake enough to eat. Lost some weight, became joundice and well it was a rough start.

I went to my last doctor app. I was 37 weeks pregnant, so the doctor check my blood pressure and it was high, also I was throwing proteins through urine, so that showed that the most probably thing was that I presented Preeclampsia in a matter of days. So the doctor decided the best thing was to induce labour, so he did, they put me Oxytocin and he said the process was slow, that it could take me two days to go through the dilation till giving birth. So I went home but surprise! I started with painful contractions (they were coming every 30 seconds, quite unusual) after 5 hours of putting the oxytocin. Anyways, some liquid came and I tough my water broke, but when I get to the hospital, and they check me and started monitoring my baby, a lot of brown water came, and they told my child was into fetal suffering, so they put me on surgery room at 1:00 am, and my girl was born 2:00 am.
I wanted to have a natural childbirth, but I wont feel frustrated because of that, and I know a lot of moms do.

It all started on January 6 when I had a doctor's appointment to check on my sugars because I had gestational diabetes. I did the usual pee in a cup, check my weight, and my blood pressure. Well I gained 7 pounds in 4 days, my blood pressure was up, and I tested positive for protein in my urine, I was very upset. My doctor told us to go to the hospital to be monitored. They did the usual for a pregnant women, took my pee, blood, and put the annoying baby heart monitors and contraction monitors on, the baby looked great and no contractions. An hour later the took me downstairs to get an ultrasound done. The baby looked great, head down, and weighed around 7 pounds. After that I went back upstairs to find that my test results came back. My blood was good but my pee wasn't. Protein came back again so my doctor said I had to stay overnight to do a 24 hour urine test. Which I had to pee in a jug the whole time. The whole time my blood pressure was up and down and they took my blood every so often. I hated the stupid monitors and the blood pressure cuff. It went off every 2 hours so forget about sleep. I slept on and off all right, I either kept getting hot or cold. So now its January 7, I had to wait till 1:00 to get my pee taken away or testing, it came back around 2-3 pm. Protein in your urine should be under 300, mine was 1600. My doctor came in and said he wants to induce labor. The reactions on our faces was priceless. I mean I was only 36 weeks, I have nothing ready at home, my friend was flying in from Chicago that night, and my baby shower was Saturday. So around 6 pm that night they inserted cervadil. I had that thing inside me for 4 long hours. From the time she put it in and took it out I was in a lot of burning pain; I made her take it out! So she calls my doctor and I oped for a c-section; so that was the plan. My friend gets to my room around 11:30 and I was excited to see her but sad because I was cooped up in the hospital. She wanted to see my belly so I got up and she said whoa your huge, thanks girl lol. She stayed with me that night. I slept kind of good that night, so we woke up around 6:30, cleaned up a little big. I gathered my stuff in my bags since I knew I was going to give birth sometime that day. Around 8:00 am the nurse came in and said my c-section is at 1:00. Soon as she said that I was scared as hell. So about 8:30 my mom, dad, sister, her bf, and Brian (DH) came by the hospital. I told them I was going to have the baby at 1:00. DH was getting really nervous at that point. Until 1:00 we just talked and I cried every hour that it got closer to time. We all decided my mom going in with me bcuz I didn't think DH (Brian) can handle it, I didn't want him passing out. So they came in and got me at 1:15 as I was walking out the door I started crying. As I was walking to the OR all I can think of is what is about to happen. I get in there I sit on the table and the anesthesiologist comes in and tells me what he is going to do. So he inserts the needle but then he said he has the wrong needle and gets another, After 5 min he finally gets it and I sudden feel a jolt of numbness in my legs. They laid me down and waiting till I was completely numb which took less than 5 min. It was weird bcuz I couldn't feel my butt. I thought I was moving my toes but I wasn't. Finally my mom comes in and I ask did they start and they said we started 10 min ago, I'm like wow. So from now until they said heres the head I felt tons of pulling, tugging, and pressure. Then my doctor said the head is out, come and look grandma. My mom looked and said shes almost here! (Later she tells me she saw my "guts" just laying there, ew) at 1:39 pm January 8, 2009 my beautiful daughter entered the world. Everyone in the room yelled "its a girl". They look her to the side cleaned her and such. 5 min later while I was being put back together, the nurse showed her to me and I just cried and thought OMG she is mine. Finally my mom brought her to me to see, I didn't want to try to hold her bcuz I was shaking like crazy. So I'm all done and they
me back to labor and delivery part bcuz post postpartum was full. I told my mom to go get Brian, he comes in kisses me and goes to see his new daughter. He was really nervous but happy. Soon after that every time I opened my eyes the room was spinning, that lasted until about 8:00 pm, I don't really remember between the hours of 2 pm and 8 pm that day. I know people was making fun of me bcuz I kept itching my face, I guess from the spinal it makes you itch. About 8:00 that night I was finally moved into post postpartum, I hated the room bcuz it was small! The dizziness was gone but I was lightheaded. So everyone left but Brian, it was kinda weird being left alone with our new daughter, it was hard to believe. The hospital I gave birth at play a lullaby on the loud speaker when a baby is born so I asked if they played one for me, he said they played one but he and my family didn't know it was for me; I asked what time you think it was, he said around 1:30, I'm like hello that was for me. Since I couldn't get up Brian did all the work for me. I think I went online and put 2 pics up on myspace. Then we went to bed. Friday January 9 was uneventful, my family came up and such. I finally got to get out of bed that evening. I had to wait until the spinal wore off. I didnt like it the 1st time, I had no undies on so it was weird. Once I got up I felt all the blood come down, ew! I go into the bathroom to pee for the 1st time bcuz of the catheter, I bleed on the floor bcuz I wasnt fast enough, oops. Felt good peeing on my own but ouch. My friend from Illinois that was there spent the night at the hospital with me, yet again someone helped me with the baby. It hurt so bad to get up and move. With those crappy beds I had trouble getting out and in and even walking hurt. On January 10 Elizabeth's doctor's partner came in and looked her over and she got released. She passed all the tests bcuz she failed one hearing test but passed that day. Later that day my doctors partner came in and released me. That day was also my baby shower so since I was in the hospital it was there. Well 3 freaking people showed up!! I litterly cried to my mom, I was very upset. I still got tons of gifts and even gifts waiting for me at home. Everyone left around 5 pm and I said ok lets get the hell outta here now. It look 25 min to pack all my stuff up. Have to remember I was in the hospital for 5 days!!! Saturday night was just me resting, getting my room together, washing clothes, putting stuff away. Remember I didnt know she was going to be early. Sunday January 11 was an ok day, I did the same things washing and putting stuff away. It wasn't until Sunday afternoon I noticed my feet and even my legs got really swollen, so I called my doctor and he said to the ER! I get there and my blood pressure wa 160/110, they kept taking my BP and it wasn't really going down. They gave me a shot of this blood pressure meds and it went down a little bit. My urine came back with protein in it again so crap I'm admitted. That night I get a catheter in again and without being numb, OUCh!! and I was given magnesium sulfate to get my BP down, I had to have that for 24 hours! Every 3 hours they took my blood and they book my blood pressure every 15 min. After a few hours on it I was getting really groggy! I slept ok that night, Brian spent the night with me. Monday January 12 that day was me sleeping on and off. Tuesday January 13 at 8 am I got that mag off, thank God! That stuff made me groggy and super lightheaded. 3 nurses had to help me get up, it took me 10 min. I finally get to the bathroom my legs was so shaky I fell onto the toilet. I know I smelled bad! The bleeding didn't help, so I waited till I got home to shower. Around 1:40 pm I was released for the last time. That is my whole story, I had to re-do this nowthat I'm remembering lol. I remember I had some really mean nurses, makes me want to be on so some ladies can get

nice ones!!
