I am having a very stressful time right now...I have hospita bills from the birth of our son that I was not anticipating. Our insurance is so crappy and now have over $1,000 that I was not expecting to pay.

My question to you all is how do you handle unexpected bills that come along? I had to tap into savings as it was to pay the mortgage this month. Feeling really scared, worried and stressed right now.

Thanks for all your thoughts!

HUGS to you.

First, check with your hospital to see if they offer payment plans. Most do, and will work with you to figure something out.

We've been thankful enough to have savings to cover unexpected expenses in the last several years.

Yeah i was going to say the same thing, look into a payment plan. I paid our hospital $85/month until our bill was paid off (i was at a birth center and had to be transferred, not expecting that!).

I call them up and see if they will work with me on X amount per month. Most hospitals will. If they won't, I send them what I can afford anyway, as long as it's SOMETHING per month.

Thanks ladies...I did call one place and set up a payment plan. I will call the hospital tomorrow along with the OBGYN. I will get through this I know, just hard right now. I do start back work on Monday so I will try to get some OT hours if I can!

Hugs to you hun...

I've been there, and I know how stressful it is. But, you will get through this. What I have done is to also call the hospital to set up payment plans. I've had medical bills come in the past that I can't pay all at once, and they've always set up a payment plan with me.
