Starting April 13th, they're ending double and triple coupons in the Houston area. They're deleting any and all customer comments made on their wall. BTW, what happens in Houston, almsot ALWAYS spreads to the surrounding areas. They use Houston as a test market for their policy changes.

I'm 2400 miles away, and I am going to be boycotting the Fred Meyer and QFC stores, owned and operated by Kroger.

That sucks. I'm always jealous of people who get to double their coupons. Tripling, I can't imagine! What's your alternative, though?

We can double at Pick&Save on Weds and Sat. You have to spend $25 (before the coupons) can only double up to 1.00 (to make 2.00) and have to use your savers card. It's not THAT great of a deal, but you can get some stuff for free, and darn well I'll be saving on easter candy this year.

Sorry they are messing with your area!

That stinks. They double in my area (never triple), but I would certainly be sad if they decide to end that.

OMG, I will be SO PO'd if this happens in Central Ohio! They just had a triple weekend here, the first one in a long time. I recently decided to stop driving 20 miles to Meijer and do all my shopping at my local Kroger (would go to Meijer maybe once a month) but I will not shop Kroger if Meijer is still doubling!

They are taking away doubling too??? They took away our tripling about 6 months ago. We can still double, but they lowered the amount.

No doubling OR tripling. Thousands of people are pissed right now, all over the country.

There have been rumors locally that they are considering charging for grocery bags too.

The charging for bags is more about the environment than the savings for the store. Here, stores pay you $0.5 for each bag you reuse.

I would argue that it's not done to help the environment, since they conviently sell reusable bags that customers would be more likely to purchase if they are being charged for plastic bags. But that's just my take on it. Either way it is helping their bottom line because any plastic bags that they buy are purchased by customers. It's not adding a big chunk to it, but it's not an overhead cost anymore.

We have Fry's here, which is like Kroger. All coupons are made to be $1, but you can only use 3 like coupons in a transaction if you want them to be made $1. They take it away every so often, and then make a big deal about bring it back after customer demands they say.
