They are the most expensive place and i never shopped there, but went in yesterday because they had a "up to 50% off" sale sign. A lot of stuff was still MORE expensive after the discount, but some things I did really well with--- organic granola bars for DD, foil baking pans were 70% off, seasonal stuff was 90% off and i got some halloween decorations, organic all natural bug repellant for 50% off, a mop was 40% off. They are going totally out of business on 4/15, so i will try to go back next week and see if there are any deals then that are better. I know why they are going out of business, they are just too pricey. For example, the wet cat food i use is 47 cents at our regular market, this market sold it for 79 cents each! ***? That is crazy!
But i felt like a kid in a candy store with all those sales yesterday
Sounds like you found some great deals! We do shop locally sometimes, even though it costs more, because we like to support local businesses. But we usually only buy things that we can't find in bigger stores (our only other options are Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Kroger and Walmart).

oh, it is owned by A&P, so not "local" by anymeans, just closer to our house than the other market we normally go to. Still a supermarket by every means of the word. We do shop at our locally owned natural food store.
That's the same as the kmart that is closing here. Their stuff is SO much more expensive than walmart. I went there hoping to get real cheap coffee maker when ours took a crap, but nope, still about 1.5x more expensive than walmart @ 30% off! They are closing early next week for good, so I am going to go on saturday and see what is left. They had a lot of stationary stuff left, so maybe I'll get some pencils for kids' schools and stuff.
I went back today and got some really good deals! They said the next round of discounts will be Monday, not sure how much will be left by then though. I saved $108!!!!!! And they are still taking coupons. The big stuff that I scored on was stationary/office supplies (80% off), bakeware (60% off), and seasonal (80-90% off). I got some really nice ice scraper things for the car for winter, originally around $15 for $2 each! I got one for me and DH. I also got random things like organic whole wheat mac n cheese for DD, frozen foods, etc.
You're lucky they were still taking coupons! Kmart told me they wouldn't take coupons on top of their closing discounts. Now that I think about it, it's a little silly because it's not like EVERY kmart closed, just that one, and they still get reimbursed for it.
