We had crazy storms Monday night into Tuesday here in Georgia. Power went out around midnight and didn't return until 4pm on Tuesday. I was SO nervous about all the food in my fridge since I grocery shop on Mondays!!!

Thankfully, I thought enough to grab some items and quickly shove them in the freezer since it was so much colder in there and stuff wouldn't warm up as quickly. I only ended up having to toss two gallons of milk, 8 cups of yogurt, and a little less than a dozen eggs. Not bad in the grand scheme of things but...

It KILLED me to have to waste all the food - and money!

I think our next big purchase is going to be a generator.

Wow I'm sorry!

We must have had a super fridge back at the old place, we had no power for over 24 hours and lost nothing food wise.
The thing I was most concerned about is we kept a TON of fish back then and their water was horrid, we did partial water changes and stuff, and they all lived.

Oh, no! I'm glad you didn't lose a ton, but that still stinks!

We just got our power back on last night from that same storm. It was crazy!

Our local news station said that if you don't open the fridge/freezer that most items will still be good up to 48 hours. I am not sure I want to test that theory, but that's what they said.
