Their receipts drive me absolutely crazy! I went there the other day for some items and I swear it's wrong! I think most of the items I put in my cart were next to nothing, but yet, I spent 30! (well more, but I had to buy an outfit for my niece's Confirmation)
Anyway, I bought (2) John Frieda Conditioners. Price was $5.99 each, I used (2) 2./1 man. coupons and (1) 3. off Target coupons. My total should have been 4.98 for 2 of them. I swear it says 8.98.
I also noticed that the Jello Pudding rang up at 3.04 and should have been 2.54 each. I didn't catch it at the time because I was talking to the cashier(dumb move)
I am going to go over my receipt and figure it out. I can eat the extra for the pudding, but if I was charged that much for the conditioner, I'm going to be ticked!

Ugh, their receipts drive me nuts too! Somtimes the coupon shows up right below the item, sometimes it's further down the receipt. It's SO hard to understand and doublecheck! I've started trying to calculate on my own - adding up the prices of the items as it states on the shelves, and then subtract all my coupons to make sure the grand total is right on. I hope you weren't overcharged!

At the way bottom it has a coupon for 3. but doesn't say what it's for..maybe the conditioner?
Target has been on the news here with coupons not scanning right and people not getting the money off they should.

On the flip side--they are so casual with coupons. I bought Toilet Wand refills yesterday. The pack of twenty was on sale for $6.99. There was a coupon for $3 of "toilet wand" sitting on the shelf. I was going to buy them, coupon or not. But I tossed the coupon in my use pile. The lady scanned the coupon and it came right off even though it wasn't a wand--but refills. I used two printed $0.55 coupons off Pepperidge farm Milanos yesterday. She said, "do you have this item?" I said, "Yup, in the bag." Well, I got home and it seems I had two bag of Chessman, one bag of Milanos. But they just put the coupon in anyway---because I said I had the item.

I'm not saying anyone should scam Target---but I agree their coupon taking policies are not very solid or organized.

I think it depends on your cashier. I've gotten some real pitb ones that make me take the items out to prove I bought it before they will push it through.

This week, when I came home, I saw a "Nature's Own" something on the receipt and I am pretty convinced I NEVER bought anything like that....but I paid $2.54 for it, I can't imagine how it could get on there...? I love Target, but always have so much trouble with coupons. They question every other one I have - seriously. I wish it went better for me.

One time I had one of those coupons that come out of those dispensers at the super market. I grabbed a bunch and stuck them in my wallet. Four times I used the coupons at Target--no issues. It scanned in, took the money off, etc. One day I was telling to check out person about how the sale item was like 20% of the original price because of this coupon. She called the front end manager over and they both went of on me about how I'm only allowed to use manufacturer coupons or Target coupons in Target. I was mad because I didn't know anything about this policy--and their darn machine read the coupon and deducted the cost! This was not an error on my part.

Target is so wonky some times!

I swear it depends on the cashier, too. I keep going back because I do get good deals, it's just a pain sometimes with coupons.

Last time I went, the person infront of me was actually complaining along with the cashier about people who use coupons! That people that get such good deals must be doing something illegal. I had to laugh when I handed over my large stack of coupons.

I don't normally shop at Target so I don't think I've ever noticed this issue.

I am sure your receipt says something like this:

-------------- special package price-----------
JF shampoo 5.99
-2.00 coupon
JF conditioner 5.99
-2.00 coupon
-3.00 Target coupon

total refund value: 8.98 all items must be returned for full refund price.
-------------------------------------------------

This simply says that you can get back 8.98 because that's the sale price after the TQ. They don't keep the MQ money since they're getting that 4.00 from the manufacturer.

5.99x2=11.98-3.00 TQ=8.98 refund value. The 4.00 is inconsequential to what the sale price is because the coupons a form of payment-NOT a discount.
