Have you tried once a month cooking? I have been playing with the idea of trying this. I need something to give me more time on a daily basis since I work pretty long hours, and especially if I do end up going back to school for a second masters. If you have tried it, how have the results been? Any favorite recipes? Tips for the first timer? Resources?

I have never tried it but really interested to see if people post some ideas. I am thinking of getting pregnant again and want ways to premake things if I get sick.

I don't, but I think we have had previous members who did the "freezer cooking". I will see what I can find!

I think the idea is interesting, and could work well if you don't have a lot of time!

I am checking out some books from the library today and will let you all know what they have to say. I would probably still cook some meals fresh, especially in the summer when it is so easy to throw something on the grill.

I found a book called Fix, Freeze, Feast that I really like. It has you prep everything right up to the cooking stage. For example a pot roast would have beef, veggies, sauce frozen together and just dumped and cooked the day of. A casserole would be assembled, but not baked. This should work for us as Nick is usually home to put something in the oven by 3 or so. I am going to try a few of the ideas from this because my husband is not a fan of leftovers. I will let you know how they come out.

I started "freezer meals" about 2 months ago and DH and I love it. It can be hard to find recipes and would love to find others to trade with. For the summer we are doing things for the crockpot and grill and freezing them.

Since it is grill season, I mostly have been freezing boneless skinless breasts with marinade so that DH can toss them on the grill while I make some basic sides. I did do a few baked ziti with sauteed veggies that we did not get to. That came amazing.
