We will be increasing from a family of 5 to 6 soon and I have to find a way to decrease our spending. The whole idea of using cupons is confusing and very overwhelming to me. We spend $800+ a month on groceries alone and I have no idea how much we are spending on other items. I live about 10 minutes from the home base of Wal-Mart so there is not much in grocery competition for them. There is one other mom and pop store but their prices are almost double what Wal-Mart charges. There is a Walgreen's and Target within 30 minutes for non food items. Where in the world do I start?

First of all welcome!!
I will admit that using coupons can be confusing at first but once you start using them it does get easier. I would recommend to learn the coupon policies for the store(s) you plan on shopping at. Check it out at:
Walmartstores.com: Walmart Coupon Policy

Walmart does price match any item. So even if you do not have a Target, CVS close by Walmart will match the price. I bring the add with me, but I have heard that Walmart does have the other store adds handy for this purpose.
There are blogs and website that help you match up coupons and sales for all stores. They tell you which coupons to use and where to find them. These are a few that I use:
Walmart | The Krazy Coupon Lady
Walmart | Free Printable Coupons, coupon blog, DIY, Learn How to Coupon, and Make Ahead Meals | Fabulessly Frugal
Walmart - Grocery Coupons & Deal Forums - A Full Cup

There are also online sites that you can print coupons from as well as the weekly paper.
Free Printable Coupons, Grocery Coupons & Online Coupons | Coupons.com
smartsourse.com
Printable Coupons and Money Saving Tips - RedPlum.com
Target.com : Furniture, Baby, Electronics, Toys,...: Target (does have manufacture coupons and Target store coupons)
Walmart.com: Save money. Live better.

Good luck and feel free to ask any questions you have.

I've found that groceries and household are the easiest places to save, but the best advice I received was to start small and go gradually. If you try and jump in over your head, you're likely to just get discouraged and give up altogether! Choose a couple of areas and build up from there

Great advice, ladies!!! When I shop at Walmart, I do save the most money when I price match. This is a GREAT tool you can use to get low prices. I've price matched a bunch of grocery stores before, CVS, Staples, Office Max...

I agree about knowing your store's coupon policy and for Walmart, their ad match policy. I didn't realize for a while that they price match produce, and this has saved us a bunch. Staying organized and taking it slow really helped me. Don't be afraid to ask us questions - We are here to help!

WELCOME!
