I make a list and do my best to stick with it. But, I usually end up with more things in my cart than I came to the store for because I see a good deal and I can't resist!!

it isn't well planned at all... I hardly use coupons... but I do shop at discounted stores that don't accept them...but when I do have to go the normal grocery store I should use the coupons.

Very planned out - now.
I used to sort of have a list based on the menu for the week - but even then I didn't necessarily stick to the list.
Then I found out how to use coupons to my advantage - that forced me to learn to plan carefully in order to get the most savings possible. It took awhile. I'll buy certain things at discount places cause I can't get it somewhere else for cheaper (no coupons/deals elsewhere but I need the items). Then I'll start moving up the chains buying the best deals matched with my coupons. So now I'm getting over twice as much stuff with the exact same amount of money that I spent before. (I would really like to learn how to be one of those ladies that pays $5 for $200 worth of groceries but I haven't learned how to do that yet.)
I'm still learning outside of the grocery store but I've gotten pretty good about shopping places with big sales that offer "cash rewards" and %s off the next purchase and of course shopping thrift/second hand/consignment stores. I hate shopping so I'm happy to learn about anything that makes me feel better about it!

It depends on which store I am going. I look ahead at produce to see who has what on sale!

If I am going to the "expensive" grocery store (which is the most coupon friendly place!) I have an exact list with details of what I am getting and how much my bill should be!

Here, Fry's is considered an expensive grocery store and they have the most amazing coupon policy LOL I never go to Walmart, which is considered much cheaper, and actually save more!
