By not cooking, lol! My parents and in-laws always make dinner so we spend half the day with each. It makes it nice because I never have to cook more then 1 dish.

For gifts, I shop sales, buy ahead of time. Match up Target coupons when I can.

Stock up on paper, tags, ribbons at after holiday sales and save for next year.

We are scaling back on gifts this year since we just bought a new washer and dryer. I'm planning on making homemade cookie mixes and homemade apple butter and jellies for gifts. I'm also making several others gifts that will be practically nothing out of pocket. We also decided to meet halfway with DH's family at their timeshare, so we are saving big on travel costs by not having to fly all the way over to them.

We also did pictures of DD with Santa in nice frames. Shopping early was a biggie for me this year. I was able to shop the sales from probably Septemberish and also online.
