Challenge template:

all you have to do is put quote, copy the template part, and then go back to the view thread and reply as normal and paste it into your reply... Then you'll have the bolds and everything on your reply. I'll have this stickied; you can all start working on your budgets, and put the info here. Then we'll start tallying as of March 1! I also added the word rebates to the savings section, since that is totally saving too and that was a big oversight by me! lol

So here's my template.

*FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS PARTICULAR TEMPLATE, THE WEEKS ARE:

WEEK ONE: March 1-3
WEEK TWO: March 4-10
WEEK THREE: March 11-17
WEEK FOUR: March 18-24
WEEK FIVE: March 25-31

Even if you don't budget weekly, you can still put the spending on the weekly spending charts! (IE: if you budget monthly, just put your spending/saving down, and your total budget at the bottom in the appropriate place, under monthly totals.) Or you can go into the previous challenge and swipe the other template. Up to you! Post your outcome on the bottom, at the end of the month!! (over budget/under budget)

Good luck!!

Count me in. I'm determined to do better this month.

So, as of the first day of the month, I have already spent half of my budget. But, I have to buy a lot of things - diapers, formula, wipes, kitty liter. I'm stocked up now, so hopefully I won't need to buy those things for the rest of the month.

March

Budgeted: $250

Under: $53.10

Spent: $196.90
3/1/07 Giant $37.68
3/1/07 Costco 112.58
3/6/07 Costco $13.39
3/8/07 WalMart $4.74
3/12/07 Giant $22.51

Total amount saved in specials and coupons:
3/1/07 Giant $3.90 in coupons

GOAL: $300 or less for groceries, household supplies, pet supplies, etc. After some thought, I don't think this is practical as there are 5 weekends in the month and the majority of the shopping is done each weekend. Since I get paid weekly it really only makes sense that I bump this up to $375.

WEEK ONE
spent: 93.17
total amount saved in specials and coupons: 50.10

WEEK TWO
spent: 165.94 (90.67 of this was for air & oil filters and oil for the cars, salt for the water softener, dog food which I didn't need yet but I had coupons that were about to expire so I got it, and a few other things, but I'm trying to keep all household expenses together so I'm counting it)
total amount saved in specials and coupons: 97.12

WEEK THREE
spent: 56.02
total amount saved in specials and coupons: 73.32

WEEK FOUR
spent: 43.39
total amount saved in specials and coupons: 54.85

WEEK FIVE
spent: 13.98
total amount saved in specials and coupons: 32.26

MONTHLY TOTALS:
spent: 372.50
saved: 307.65
waiting on rebates: 33.18

Grocery game - very worth it to me. I am a writer by trade and am writing an article on it now (in a nutshell it's very worth it to some people, but not all people). As soon as it's up on the web I'll link you all to it so you can see my assessment!
