My DH and my sister (who is visiting from out of town with my niece) know full well I'm trying to control our grocery budget.

So what do they do today while I'm at work? Go to the grocery store to "pick up some things." Mind you, I'm shopping in a day and a half and we have a house full of food. But apparently they can't wait????

They picked up, for example, full price apples when we could have eaten canned oranges and other fruit for a day and then had the on sale apples when I shopped Sunday morning. I'm so pissed

I knew, I just knew that when my sister came to visit my budget would be blown. DH is already a notorious impulse shopper, but I pretty much had him "in control." My sister is just as bad! And the worst of it is, she's only been here 1 day. She's here for 10 more days!!!!

Are you paying for their purchases? Personally, I wouldn't. Maybe I'm weird... if you are providing food, though, then anything 'extra' is on their shoulders (at my house, anyway)...

So sorry, though. My DH doesn't have anything to do with my budget--mine is seperate and apart from his. He gives me my money, and it's all mine. If I stay way below budget, then I have money to play with...

I'm sorry about your budget. A scenario like this is why I have complete control of the finances in our family. DH gets an allowance and that's all he gets to spend. He's awful with money and he's knows I'm great with it so it all works out.
