Does anyone know if Super Wal-Marts still honor competitors flyer's... do the whole price match thing?
I thought my mom used to do that when I was younger. But I cant remember now! LOL

OK well I just found this online. Not sure of the credibility so here is the link to the site as well.

Wal Mart must match local stores prices for name brand items. (oreos, kelloggs cereals, etc.), and coupons, (store and manufacturers coupons). They also have to match other store brand generic items, i.e. fred meyer tuna for wal mart brand tuna, etc. And they dont normally stick to a coupon "limit". Name brands should match, i.e. Green Giant Corn price at local store for Green Giant Corn in wal mart.

Today, for instance, a local nursery was offering a tomato plant for 1.50, and Wal Mart price was 2.97, I told them of the price match, and got it for the 1.50 price.

You may have to be insistant, and sometimes forceful with the clerk to get them to give you the price. Some will tell you they want to see the ad, but there is NO requirement in wal mart policy, that I know of. I fought them over this matter, and said, fine, I will just go to the store with the ad and buy all my OTHER items there. They quickly removed this false "requirement" of showing them the ad.

Another policy that they do NOT advertise, is wal mart mis scan policy. If an item mis-scans, and the item sells for 2.99 or less, you get the item free. If the mis-scan item sells for MORE than 3.00, you get 3.00 off of the price of that item. I purchased a bathroom item that sold for 1.69, and it mis-scanned at 2.17. I went in for a week, and purchased the same item, and got it free every time, well, until they caught on and corrected their error.

A trick I use is to use the internet. Most large grocery stores, Albertsons, Top Foods, Safeway, Fred Meyer, QFC, (and some SMALL markets) have ONLINE FOOD ADS. I just look at the online ads, pick what I want, make a list as to what store had the items and for what price, and go to wal-mart to purchase my items. Saves a TON of TIME and GAS to go to one store.

BUT with that said, I would AVOID buying bakery items, (bakery items suck, IMHO), some meat, and some produce items from Wal Mart. If you check the labels on Wal Mart meats, you will see a "disclaimer label" that the meat has been "injected with a solution" of up to about 15 percent. When I asked WHAT "a solution" consisted of, the Asst store manager was unable to answer me. Further digging found that the "a solution" is salt water. Firstly, salt water WEIGHS MORE than fresh water, and salt water acts a preservative. I also found, that to EXTEND shelf life of their meat, they pack it in a nitrogen environment, which does NOT hurt the meat, IMHO, but it DOES not LAST as long after you open the pkg, in my experience. Submitted FWIW!!

Happy Shopping

Ours price match but only stores within like 5-10 miles. It must be the exact brand name, and they will price match produce. I still find good ole coupons to be better, but my SIL swears by price matching at WM. Whatever floats your boat! Saving money is saving money.
