What is the number one thing you do to cut expenses? (ie: clip coupons, shop bulk, etc).

I am an avid rebater. I LOVE rebates!

I would say the number one thing I do is trade for Enfamil checks. I always manage to have several on hand so I never have to pay full price for formula. I also buy formula off other people for dirt cheap prices.

I've started doing the rebate thing and man did I wish I had done it years ago! I've also started using coupons and only buying when things are on sale (well, mostly!).

Paganempath,
I use Enfamil for my DS also (7 months). I have Similac checks and Goodstart checks to trade and there used to be people who needed them and had Enfamil ones, however, I can't seem to find anyone that wants to trade anymore. Have you had any luck??? I am running out of checks!!!

I responded to your thread in the coupon trading section. The two that I've traded for Enfamil the most are Julieet76 and swtbbyangel. They both use Goodstart and I still get some of those checks from when I used Goodstart too. Check out their threads in the trading section; I believe they have some ready to trade. There is one other lady that I've traded with before, but I don't remember her screenname offhand. Let me go check and I'll edit my post with her name.

*edit* Her name is NewMomRHE. PM her and see if she has any. Good luck!

Save a lot, dollar stores, coupons and stockpiling. if i see something on sale i know we'll use i stock up. then i can just wait for the next time it goes on sale so i don't have to pay full price for it.

Ya know... I hadn't really thought about the breastfeeding... I guess that might be the one thing that really cuts the most expense... I still rarely buy her milk because I'm extended nursing, too...

I didn't think of it either until someone mentioned saving on formula. Kind of a lightbulb moment. I've probably saved thousands by breastfeeding. He's nearly 2 and I still bfeed him rather than give him animal or bean milk.

Planning is probably my best cost saver. I plan meals. I plan shopping trips. I plan to anticipate our needs for items in the future. I plan with a price book so I know when the best deals should be coming around. Like, this week soda is on crazy sale, but I know from price booking that it'll be WAY cheaper by the Fourth fo July. I plan so much it's a little crazy, but it saves me bootles of cash.

- paying attention to sales
- combining coupons with BOGO, but only it is something that I need
- Only buying brand diapers when on sale, other wise buying generic
- making bigger dinners to save money on eating out at lunch.
