Teri's mention of this reminded me I wanted to post about this...

how much do you usually spend on deli/sandwich meat-per pound that is?

I know a lot of you mention not paying more than $2 for other meats, but I don't think that applied to this.

I rarely get deli meat. When I do, I go to Wal Mart and wait in the ridiculous line for their cheapie 2.97/lb. turkey or their 3.97 roast beef...

The prepackaged meats I mentioned before are only 9 oz. So I spend roughly $5.50-$6.00 a pound. I haven't gotten any freshly sliced deli meats lately to compare. Is that a comparable price?

BOARS HEAD is about 10.00/lb. (they vary from 8.99-11.99, I think). They're the best, I think. I have splurged and gotten their corned beef when it was on sale for 9.99! I only got a half pound, though, and some imported swiss that was way too expensive, and some rye bread. Toasted corned beef and swiss on rye. NOTHING like it!

I was totally wrong about the D&W. It's boar's head... that's the one I get at Publix... It's awesome.

The most I'll spend is $5.99/lb, but I HATE spending that much!!! I usually always try to keep it at least under $5/lb, but we like the pepper turkey and it's hard to find cheaper.

I got 2lbs of Hormel shaved turkey yesterday for $3.69. It's on sale BOGO at Meijer if you're curious ... and I used a 55c/ coupon. In general, I don't buy deli meat. I dig it for making paninis and the like, but if we don't have it (and we usually dont), then I just cook regular meat and chop it like I need it.

I usually get ham from Meijer (3.99/lb) and roast beef (6.99/lb).

Wow those Walmart prices are cheap, but Walmart is out of the way for me and I hate it, so I guess I'll stick with Meijer!

I don't like to pay huge prices for lunchmeat, though we do buy it. I will get the pre-packaged variety if I am at the grocery store and it is on sale. Otherwise, I go to BJ's. Our BJ's added a deli and their prices are super cheap for name brand deli meats. My kids love deli american cheese. It is about $6 a pound in our grocery stores and at BJ's it is $2.99 a pound. Imported swiss cheese is only $4.99 a pound! They also carry other meats for less than $5 a pound. That is where I like to stay price wise.

Wow, i wish our walmart had a deli! Thats a great price for deli turley!

I got the same deal mandi got. At meijer they have bogo hormel natural choice turkey, and i had three coupons too.. so i got it pretty cheap.. Usually, it's hard to be frugal with deli meat... DH packs it for lunch everyday and he's ultra-picky, he'll only eat turkey!
