Any tips for getting cheap maternity clothes?
Some of the women on my DDC were talking about $60 jeans being the norm.

I figure all I really need will be new bras and panties, a couple pairs of jeans, some new tops and maybe a few bigger pairs of scrubs for work. Those drawstring pants will be a lifesaver I'm sure.

I would just say I can get cheap stretchy pants but I can't stand the feeling of elastic pressing down on my bladder.

Dh thinks I should just hit Walmart and maybe their smallest clothes would fit me (I'm skinny) once I get bigger.

ebay, target clearance sales, wal mart clearance sales, and jc penney clearance sales.

Careful about jc penney bras, though... I am highly disappointed in them...

eBay for sure!! I LOVE ebay!! It saved us tons when I was pg with DS. Good thing I saved all my maternity! It's great for baby stuff too. Advice though.... look for LOT items b/c you can end up spending more b/c of the shipping and stuff. Let us know what you find!

How/when do I figure out how big I am going to get? I'm sure there are great deals to be had on ebay but how do you know they will fit without trying them on?

Basically... whatever size you are now is what you will wear in maternity. If you wear mediums, buy medium. If you wear 8's, buy 8's. Different brands size them differently, but they are mostly based on the same general starting size...

Here's my ultimate frugal solution: don't show

Here's my belly pic that I took yesterday, I'm 24 weeks and a few days

I guess that's not very universal, though.

Look for baby consignment shops. Sometimes they carry ladies stuff too. And you can usually try things on. Ask any friends that have been pg before if you can borrow stuff.

rubber bands on jean work or a bella band type thing to unbutton pants and cover.

Purchase clothing from clearance racks one size up from what you wear now. They should last a while.

Ditto to the consignment shops. Also check out Goodwill. And they sell some kind of band thing that will allow you to wear your jeans longer. It is similar to the rubber band idea but it is specially made for it. And check out the regular maternity store's clearence. I hit a Motherhood outlet while I was preggo and scored $4 shirts and $6 skirts.

I wish we had a maternity store nearby. I can't find one. jc penney stuff is decent, though, and they have good clearance...

And Target has fantastic clearance--we all know that! I got some capris there (well, my mom did for me), and they were 6.98! And I LOVE THEM!

Kim, you don't have a mall nearby with a motherhood? I was lucky, when I was preggo, I lived 6miles from an outlet mall.

We have a mall, but no motherhood. My favorite store (Macy's) doesn't have maternity, either...big dummies.

The outlet mall in Ellenton has a great Motherhood. And it has a Childen's Place, Gymboree, Carters, and OskKosh. It's just south of where 275 meets I-75. I love going to that outlet mall. I miss living so close to it.

That's quite a ways from here. I'm north of the northern 75/275 junction... it's a long way down to the southern split/junction. I love gymboree!

I would get a bella band on ebay because then you can wear it around your jeans as is. This might conflict with not wanting elastic pressing down on your bladder but from what I can see the band is very wide and it doesnt look like it would push down more than a normal pair of pants.

Also I second consignment shops! Target has awesome clearance pretty regularly on maternity clothes!

I'm stupid, and after Maddie was born and I was pretty convinced we weren't having any more, I sold all my maternity stuff. Now I'm having to buy stuff again. Shopping is fun, but spending money isn't! lol

I found most of my stuff on the clearance racks. Most was cheaper than ebay once you included the shipping in the cost.

I only bought one thing.. to feel maternity like. Stretchy pants worked... I also lose weight when I am pregnant... so that helps.

However, I recently got a bunch of maternity clothes, for the next baby, for free on freecycle. Do that.

Oldnavy.com clearances a lot of their stuff at the end of the season. You can get stuff from there very cheap if you buy at the right time.
