I mailed a package today in a flat rate box. I went to a USPS center in a gas station. It was an actual USPS center and not a mailboxes etc or whatever. Well, they charged me $9.15 for the flat rate box. On the USPS website it says that the flat rate box is $8.95. I asked them if they charged a convience fee and the women there said no that all flat rate boxes were $9.15. I know that a couple of weeks ago I paid $8.95 at a post office for the same box. I didn't mind paying a convience fee but the women argued with me that there is no possible way that I could have paid $8.95 for a flat rate box. Anyone know what is up with that?

Geez that's something I should know about and I don't. Postage rates haven't changed in the past few weeks. I really have no clue.

Yeah, I was really puzzled because I checked the website as soon as I got home and it said $8,95. You think that would be updated.

I would call the post office 800 # and inquire. You still have your receipt, right? I'd call...

It may not be worth it to call for 20 cents...

I'd call... if they're overcharging people on a regular basis and covering it up, I'm not entirely sure it's legal... I think they have to disclose any fees they charge...and if they say they don't charge a fee, it must be the legal postage. I am not 100% on that, but I'm pretty sure that's how it is...

I agree that it is not worth the $.20 but I want to know if they regularly charge more than the website and other post offices so that I know not to use them. I think that I will call the number tomorrow. I do a lot of mailing and $.20 could add up over time.
