When I was pregnant with our son we bought a Sleep Number mattress-our other one was a huge of junk! It has been the best! We love it and highly recommend it!! ANyhow...we periodically get coupons for other things from there. Recently we got a 50 off a 100 prchase. We decided to at least go in and check it out. Their pillows were on sale b1g 1 50% off. We each got a 6 inche memory foam pillow. Regularly 119.99 each. We paid 143 and change for both of them, 114 and change of savings-44% Not very frugal, but I know we'll love them!!!

You have $114 pillows!?

Kris ....

Actually they were 144, the savings was 114...

I won't tell you then how much the mattress cost us! But I will say, they are worth every penny! I have back and neck issues, I used to go to a chiropractor, but havent been in years now thanks to the better bed. I woke up this morning and my neck feels great!

They're not hard? My DH bought a memory foam mattress pad and pillows before we got married. The pad is OK but is too soft for my liking at times. The pillows are HORRIBLE though. They are hard as a rock. We don't use them. I have no idea how much he paid for it all but I know he ordered it off overstock.

The bed is a sleep number bed (the air mattress type where you can change how soft/hard you want it). It came in so handy when I was pregnant last time! The pillows are firm, but we both like them that way-it gives lots of support!

Oh man, Kris. Your bed sounds so comfy. We really need a new bed. Or atleast try one of those memory foam toppers. We both sleep horribly.

GO to a Select COmfort store and try out one of their beds...they are so great! We got a middle of the road (pricewise) and have felt it was worth every penny! It comes with like a 20 year warranty too, so at least you know you won't buy one and then have it become crappy and be stuck with it! We had our out first mattress set for 3 years and were having to flip it like every week it got so lumpy and uncomfortable. We've now how the # one for 3 years and haven't had a single complaint about it!

We may have to look into this. My mattress is like 10yrs old but it was a very very expensive mattress (ex-inlaws purchased it for me and my ex). I know that it is a Serta but not sure what kind and DH is asleep right now. I believe that it was like $2000 at the time. They probably over paid. I have no idea if it had a warranty or not. But it probably got messed up from being moved quite a bit. Like atleast 5 times.

The good thing about Select COmfort is that they also usually have deals with 6 or 12 months no payments or interest (of course we did this but paid it off in that time so that it didn't cost us any extra). I know others would disagree about doing it that way vs paying for it all up front, but that's what we did. We knew our mattress was crap and said that when I was pg when would buy a new one...which we did...so now we just decided to continue with the trend and buy the pillows!

How much did the actual bed cost? Or did I miss that somewhere in here?

Regular price of Queen Sleep number bed (mattress): 1599.98
-200 discount
+99.99 delivery and set up
+105 tax

TOTAL-1604.97

We got it Oct 16, 2004, so I'm sure the prices have gone up, but not sure by how much.

Kris-- wasn't it you who said that sleeping was your hobby? I can see that. Wow, that much for pillows? I'll stick with my $5 pillows from hell. They're comfy and cheap.

I do envy your sleep number bed though. I was just thinking this morning of that commercial with Lindsay Wagner while I was flipping around in bed, trying to get comfortable. She sleeps all through the night on her sleep number bed.

Yes, I love my sleep. Even in college, I wasn't one for really staying up late. I am just not a night person. I can easily sleep 10-12 hours every single night if I could! I once slept for 20 hours, only getting up to go to the bathroom!!!! It was after coming home from a service trip. Between sleep at night and my daily nap I normally get 8-10 hours a day. Any less and I just don't function well!! We've had 9.99 cheap o pillows and I hate them! After a few weeks they are all lumpy!

Friends of ours got the bed first and we tried it out there first, then in the store! We actually dislike having to sleep anywhere else, even on vacation since we miss our bed so much!!!

The beds are really great bc each peson can set their own number. This really comes in handy when there is a big weight difference between the 2 people.

Hm. They're not as pricey as I thought they were ... the mattresses, that is, not the pillows (which are still outrageous). My magically wonderful absolutely amazing pillowtop mattress was $1500 (with a split box spring). I adore it. I bought it before I knew any better, though. I'd never ever pay that much anymore.
