Yeah IMO this isn't news (although I'm glad it's getting media attention so as maybe folks can learn something), this has been going on for YEARS. I was stupid enough to use a Hartz topical spot on product about 10 years ago, it almost killed my cat. I now advise people DO NOT use ANY flea/tick product that isn't sold by vets. That doesn't mean you have to get it at your vet (now that there are places like entirelypets.com, 1800petmeds.com, etc) but if it isn't something that would be sold in a vet's office (such as Advantage, Frontline, Revolution, etc) then pass it up and choose one that would be. Brands such as Sargeant's, Hartz, Bio Spot, they may be cheaper than Frontline, Advantage and others, but they're also MUCH more dangerous and IMO not worth the risk. Also to make sure if you do purchase products such as Frontline, Advantage, Revolution, etc to make sure it is the USA/EPA approved for sale in the USA version (if you live in the USA).
