Our cat has a serious flea problem I put a flea collar on here for a couple of days until she some how got it off. Since then they have gotten badly out of hand. Me and DB have only found a few on us but they are all over her I feel so horrible!! We've given her TWO flea baths and did a topical treatment (from the pet store) and they are still there!! i can see them all over her head when we gave her the flea baths I'm really starting to think she feels neglected because we wont let her on our lap or pet her I plan on calling the vet tomorrow to see about getting a flea dip and some better medicine. Neither me or DB want to put her outside Do you think I should get her dipped and get put on some meds? help!!
Talk to your vet. The stuff they have can be expensive, but I've learned sometimes it easier to pay it once instead of trying all the different methods. We've been lucky this year (knock on wood) but with 2 dogs, I feel your pain! Good luck!
Stay away from the topical treatments from the store, first off they're useless and secondly they're dangerous (many cats die from them). Get a topica that is good, such as Frontline Plus or Advantage that is for cats you shouldn't have a problem as long as you use it every 30 days. But they're not all over your home so you will need to get rid of them in your house as well.
Stay away from flea collars, dips, baths, and the store bought topicals all extremely dangerous.
Skip the dip. Give her a bath in Dawn dish soap, put on Frontline Plus or Advantage (I recommend Frontline Plus), get rid of them in your home and in 2-3 months you should be flea free.
I went thru this with my 4 cats this past summer IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!
i had to shave all of their cat hair!!!!! it was GETTING out of hand. once they were shaven, the fleas were lessening and i applied frontline on them then by the time we moved out to new apt, we fogged the new apt AND the emptied old apartment... (of course we took the cats out to avoid the fog bomb). IT WORKED!
plus wash everything in hot water. vacuum everywhere!
