I'm sitting here missing the best cat I've ever had. He was hit by a car yesterday and died overnight at the vet's office. He was the most friendly, patient, kind cat and I thought my son would grow up being great friends with him.
I feel kind of silly grieving so much for a pet when other people have experienced much greater loss but it just leaves a hole in your heart. There is a hair covered dent in our couch cushion and he's never going to be in it again.

i am so sorry for your loss.. you shouldn't feel the least bit silly grieving over a pet! pets are our furbabys and our family! i lost 2 cats in a span of a year and i was devastated. i still miss them both to this day and occasionally reminisce about them and cry because they were a huge part of my life! it will only get easier with time but mourning and grieving the loss of a pet is normal and natural. again, i am so terribly sorry for your loss

Thanks for the kind words. What sucks the most is that I feel ok, then I'll look out the window expecting to see him walking through the flowers like he used to do, then remember that he's gone. It hurts a lot.

I agree with the above. Anything that loses its life in our lives deserves to be mourned for. It is a normal and natural part of the healing process. I am very sorry for your loss.
