National : North Carolina ban to kill numerous breeds

New Policy Requires All Pit bulls, American Staffordshire Terriers, Rottweilers, Chow Chows, and Presa Canerios To Be Killed in NC Shelter Our Compass

I'm sending e-mails out from each of mine and my husband accounts. This just is beyond wrong on so many levels. To kill dogs in 72 hours of being born due to their "BREED"..

As someone who has a pit, this is just sickening to me. We rescued ours from a shelter when he was a puppy and he is the sweetest, non-aggressive dog I have ever known. People are so ignorant to the facts. If you raise a dog responsibly, it won't matter what breed it is.

Pits are banned where I live as well and I just don't get it. They are my favorite breed and are the sweetest most goofy dogs out there. Just because some people train them poorly and beat them is no reason to have them killed.

This is terrible! I have owned every breed mentioned above...the only dangerous encounter I've had with any of the is the presa canario, who attacked my mother and later attacked another child of a family who adopted her. Of course this was in the case of extreme abuse from the family who owned her before we did...

If people would just learn to raise their breeds correctly with proper discipline, or people would learn to stop taunting dogs until they attack, we wouldn't have such outrageous laws!

There is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad masters. They should euthanize the people that turn these dogs into monsters.

I live in an area where pit bulls / am staffs are banned. Its horrible. DH's dad used to breed and train red-nosed pit bulls, and they were sweet tempered animals. Its all about the masters, not the breed. There are people fighting to get the ban lifted here, and the moment it is, we will be getting one to go along with our american bulldog.

Punish the deed not the breed. Fight to end Breed Specific Laws. I have two bully breeds that were rescued from being bait dogs and another pit that was rescued and we suspect someone forced him to fight. All are gentle and loving and would follow my DD to the ends of the earth. Check out mypitbullisfamily.com great website that is about teaching what the breed really is...not what the media portray them as. And ya can get free bumperstickers!

Thats awful. I have a half pit/half staffy and a halflab/quarter corgi/quarter queensland heeler cross and my dogs love everyone. My pit esp takes care of the kids he LOVES them. Its all about how you train them, when you discipline, when you praise. I get compliments on how good he is the vet loves him. Ive never had a dog pitbull, lab or otherwise that was mean. I even had a dog that was a shepard coyote cross. Thats right coyote! Great dog.
