Someone just recently told me it can be common for dogs to howl when babies cry!

Although I'd never thought about it before it makes sense. I understand the reasons dogs howl in response to certain pitched noises. Does anyone have a dog that howls when their baby cries? What does the baby think of it?

My Boxer and my Boxer/lab mix never did. I've had a lot of friends with babies who have had dogs and I've never known anyone whose dog howled when their baby cried.

My two rescues never did. They do howl at train whistles, though.

If you have a dog that is a known howler, I would half expect him/her to do so when baby cries on occasion. My sister has a beagle who howled when baby cried for a few weeks, then he got over it, we assumed he got used to the noise?

My parents dog never howled with the babies, but they werent howlers to begin with...
