Was it a dog? Cat? Hamster?

Was it a family pet? or "yours"?

Technically fish. But, my husband says those don't count LoL. If that's the case, then my first pet was a cat. Since I don't believe a pet is every truly a child's, I will say she was my mom's and my cat (it was just the 2 of us). Had her for 9 years or so.

I had a goldfish when I was 4....it died pretty quickly. After that we had a cat....she was so mean for some reason and we ended up having to get rid of her....I remember her scratching us but that's about it since I was 4.

Mine was a cat. I had named her Ruby. Now I'm looking forward to have a Golden Retriever as my pet so that my kids can play with it.

German Shepard police dog. My dad was a policeman. He was sweetest dog at home and he looked out for us. He was in the newspapers too for catching the bad guys. I loved him

I never had pets growing up. Once I got married and had children we got an Akita. She's a lovely dog and treats our children like a sibling.

Haha, mine was a goldfish and it was just "mine." I got assists from Mom and Dad with cleaning the tank and going to the pet store to buy food, but I was a very responsible pet owner

I remember visiting my aunt and her big old German Shepherd. She was a very patient dog, and tolerated riding and all kinds of things.
But my own pet was called Jessie, and he was some interesting kind of mutt, average or small size, really black. Very smart and friendly!
He(I will just her a he, if that is OK) was really curious and tried to explore every corner of the park. Later, Jessie had some health problems with lower parts, so to speak: Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia in Small Animals: Prostatic Diseases: Merck Veterinary Manual
We treated him with some drugs like osaterone - https://vetxed.com/en/y/Ypozane/ Got better, and basically lived to some pretty old age.
