Hey everyone, I've never posted in here, but I tend to lurk pretty often. I have 2 cats that are brother and sister and they are 9 months old. We were planning on getting them fixed, but apparantly we waited too long because the female cat had 3 kittens today! I was really worried that since they are 'inbred' that they wouldn't survive, but they seem to be doing pretty well so far.

So I have a couple of questions.... first, is there a big chance that the kittens won't survive? And second, I heard somewhere that the male cat might try to eat the kittens??? Is this true? We have kept him away from the kittens and the mom just in case, but how long do we need to keep them seperate?

Thanks so much for any replies

~Sara

I don't know... I've never bred kittens, but someone here can probably answer you. Congrats on your new "babies" though.

The cat my mom has and the sisters that my step sister has are all the product of inbreeding and I am happy to report that they are all 13 years old now and still doing very well. It isn't a good idea, but they should hopefully be alright. I would definitely get them to a vet for a check up soon though.
