Have you ever lost a pet? What was the outcome - did you find them? Did you post a reward?

Since you're asking about reward I am assumnig you mean lost as in they escaped rather than passed away.

No, I have never lost a pet. A couple of days after we adopted Erin she darted out my front door one morning when I opened it, but I went after her, caught up with her, and we started no darting out the door training that very day and she has never done it again. Lucas didn't go anywhere when off leash we took him outside off leash frequently. Tyson, well he's still a puppy so he does the same thing just hangs around the yard. And I have never lost a foster. I would offer a small reward, but I think large ones are rediculous, people should return the dog because they want to not because they want to make a buck. I have a tag on Erin's collar that says "I take life saving medication" (which she does) in hopes that someone would want to return her since she's ill.

BUT over the holiday I was Pet Sitting for someone, their 5 month old lab mix, put her outside with 2 of mine, including my puppy, so she could play for 20 minutes or so and she dug out in less than 20 minutes (6 1/2 years and I have NEVER had an animal escape from the yard!), I went looking for her and couldn't find her, but I talked to a few people on the street and a few minutes later some kids were returning her. So all worked out well, but I filled in the hole and then for the rest of her stay she did not go outside by herself again, I watched her from the door and brought her back in as soon as she was done going to the bathroom.

I've never lost a pet. We've had our dogs get out of the house, but they always came back within an hour or so. I pray we never have to go through that, but if we do, I will be so glad that we got him microchipped!

We've never lost a pet, no. But, when we lived out in a very secluded area, we let the dogs out to do their business w/ no leash, so they would take off and do their run. They always came back within an hour and we knew where they went, they just liked to run.
