They are adorable! I see very few Catahoulas around here. What are they bred to do exactly, I have no real idea? Do they herd livestock or are they more heeler types? They are some of the most unique looking dogs I've seen!
Catahoula's were created to hunt wild hogs. They have a grit that kind of makes 'em not give up, just grab onto it, and don't let go. They make good cow dogs becuase of this also, they are a hardheaded breed, and it takes a bit sometimes to get through to them that what they think is good and what you think is good are too different things and your thinking is the way to do it. LOL They don't make jsut really good heel dogs, and are more likely to go to the head. But dh can get his to herd a bit. They are pretty cool marked and a breed that is famous to have the glass or blue eyes. Honestly though they don't make very good pets at all, and are a breed that needs a job 24/7 with a lot of excersise. Dh runs his at least 10-15 miles aday behind the pickup just to keep the freshness knocked off of them. Left up to their own thoughts and the can get pretty descructive with chewing, digging, etc.
