I've been giving DD ready-made formula because I wasn't aware that hers came in the powdered form. (I assumed it because I never could find it anywhere.) I found one carton of her milk in the powdered form at BRU and bought it. I read the directions on the back and saw that I was only to use the enclosed scoop to measure out the powder. I open up the carton and, lo and behold, the enclosed scoop is missing. Now how am I supposed to measure her formula? Do they sell those scoops separately anywhere? I'm scared to buy another carton now.

Nevermind! I emptied the formula into a bowl and found the scoop packed all the way at the bottom.

Now another question - Can I use room temperature Poland Spring water or do I have to buy the Nursery water or any other specialized baby water for it? Sorry for being annoying..

Some pediatrician's tell you not to use the Nursery water because it has too much fluoride. I buy regular store brand drinking water to mix ds' with. If I happen to run out I just boil tap water on the stove and allow it to cool before mixing it.

i used the pur water filter that attached to the sink, then we got a water cooler and used the bottled water. We live on a military base and the water here sucks, but when we went somewhere else i used tap water. Shes still alive, I'm alive and I had plain tap water in my bottles.

Glad you found the scoop! Those things get buried so easily!

With my daughter I always just used tap water, but where Siera is still so little and was preemie also, I would use either bottled water or boiled water, just to be safe.

Congrats, BTW, she's beautiful!

I think that the water you use is just a personal preference. I use regular bottled water but I know lots of moms who use Nursery Water and tap water with no problems. I don't think its an issue of quality unless you're using well water or something. I've heard that too much flouride is bad for the baby's teeth and I've heard that flouridated water should be used after 6 months. I think pediatricians may have different opinions on it. You may have to ask Siera's doctor on that one.

Totally off topic....Your baby was born on my birthday!!!

I use Nursery Water or Gerber water. My pediatrician did not have a problem with us using Nursery Water - I guess it just depends on the doctor.

We started using regular bottled water and now use tap with no problems.

Dont feel bad about finding the scoop hidden! We were just out of town and I opened a new can and freaked out that there was no scoop and how was I supposed to measure! DH found it! hehe

Thanks everyone! I think I'm just going to call her pedi in the morning and see what her preference is.

Yeah, I often can't find the scoop! LOL It hides in there some times... I would take it back if there wasn't one in there! I'd be mad!!

I use tap water... It's a matter of personal preference really.

Our pediatrician said we could use any water we drink. I use bottled water just because I like it. He said not to use the nursery water till she is 6 months. But I think every ped is different.

We used tap water with Emily back when she used to be on formula, and occasionally if we were out and needed to make a bottle on the go, we would use bottled water. I really do think its a matter of personal preference as well.

I always just use tap water. If you don't want to, I imagine one of those faucet filters is less expensive than Nursery water.

Her pedi said I can use bottled water. I tried it today for the first time. She drank it just fine but started fussing afterwards. I think I'm going to stick to the ready-made formula for now and give her the powdered version in a month or two.
