As I posted on Friday, the surgery itself went well. I went home the same day. On Saturday I was sore, but fine otherwise. Sunday afternoon I started running a fever. By night time it had gone up to 101.6 and wouldn't budge from that point. Tylenol wouldn't bring it down. By Monday morning I felt like I was regressing. Before the fever started some of the soreness had worn off, I was moving around well, and was feeling ready to go back to work this week. But by Monday I could barely move and felt like crap. I went to the doctor and they admitted me that afternoon. Since then they've loaded me up with fluids, antibiotics, ran tests, and gave me a CT scan. Apparently I have a colon infection and possibly appendicitis. Both showed up as enlarged on the scan, plus I've had a fever and the "runs" so that accounts for the colon infection. I wasn't allowed any food or water until this afternoon. So basically, I went from Sunday to this afternoon with nothing by mouth. My fever has been gone for 24 hours and everything else has been going well, so hopefully I'll be able to go home tomorrow. *fingers crossed*
I'm doing tons better, although at work sometimes my side starts to hurt...lower right side above my pelvis. A co-worker of mine (who has also had her gallbladder removed) said the area of my pain is right where my appendix is, and that sometimes appendicitis can happen after you get your gallbladder removed. Scared the crap out of me. I read about appendicitis online and it said that the pain usually starts where my pain is. I hope its just leftover aches and pains from surgery, because I'm not up for another operation.
