Anyone have any experience with both breastfeeding and formula feeding...whether it be with the same child or different ones?

I breastfed Emily for 2 weeks then started using formula also because of supply issues. I was able to give her mostly BM for a few weeks. At 6 weeks I quit Bfing all together.

I love having this board because people seem to think only breastfeeding mothers need support. People think only they get treated badly. So it's really nice to have you girls and the support!!!

I breastfed for about 9 weeks? I think it was? I can't remember anymore... Then I got the flu super bad and it rocked my supply, so I went ahead and switched to formula.

My DD is both breast and formula fed.

Is there something you needed help with?

There's also a Breastfeeding & Supplementing board on JM if you're interested.

Emily was FF exclusively for about 1 week then I started pumping which didn't last long maybe 6 weeks but she had to have formula and breastmilk because I didn't have enough supply and I was miserable. She has be FF since then.

I also do both, b/c of supply issues. I did BF only for the first 2 weeks b/c it seemed to be enough, but now that he's almost 8 weeks, I have been supplementing with formula after I nurse. It's getting frustrating to have to do both.

Sort of...both my kids were pretty much exclusively breastfed for the first 4 days, then I added formula. I really don't enjoy breastfeeding, so I only do it for a few days. As soon as I get really engorged and painful, I'm all done.

I started out trying to EBF, but Zadie was obviously not getting enough. I struggled with trying to find the right method and amount of supplementing for weeks. Finally when she was 1 month old and still under her birth weight I gave up started FF her and supplementing with pumped breast milk. My supply gradually decreased until I stopped at 2 months when I was only getting 1 ounce a day total. She and I are both doing so much better now that she's totally on formula. It seems like her first several weeks of life were just her being hungry, constant weight checks, and me being miserable. Thank god for formula!
