I recently bought a set of Playtex Drop-In bottles and liners because Joel had been having some latching/air intake issues with my old bottles. I love them, and they've really been helping the gas issues Joel was having. He's doing much better now.

However, I was wondering if those of you who use them squeeze all the air from the liners or just fill them and use them? I've done both, but I don't know what the proper way is.

You know, I'm not sure what the "proper way" is, but I always squeezed the air out as much as I could. I would squeeze it up to the top before putting the lid on, then squeeze the rest out through the nipple hole.

That being said, I only did this, because I saw my mom do it, and it made sense. LOL

I don't think it matters though. The point of the drop ins, is that they collapse as the milk drains, eliminating the vacuum effect some bottles make. (Meaning, as the baby drinks, the space in the bottle that was taken up by milk needs to be replaced with air.)

Yeah, Joel did well with them either way, but I didn't know if one way was actually better than the other.
Thanks for the info!

Can you explain how you squeeze the air out? Is this after you fill the liner with formula?
Thanks!

when my neice was a baby she drank from drop-ins.

we would put the nipple/cap on then press/push on the drop-in liner so the air went out the nipple hole until there was little/no air left. (hope that is good enough explanation Mommy2Ab!)

I feel like an idiot- was this WITH the formula in? I am just picturing squeezing the bottom of the bag full of formula and can't seem to get that in my head...
Thanks again!

Yeah, its with the formula in it.... LOL it does sounds strange. But the air comes out SUPER slow. The extra air comes out of the nipple.... LOL It sounds strange but if you see it done, it totally makes sense.

maybe you squeezed too hard? i just take my finger or 2 of them and push it up towards the nipple but gently, not forceful. Did you try it that way?
