I have a 11 week old and she has been "sleeping" through the night for two weeks now. I say "sleeping" because her body clock is stuck at waking up at 1:30 and 4:30 but she doesn't eat. I go into her room and put a pacifier in her mouth and she goes right back to sleep. I bought this product to use for a few weeks to get her body clock adjusted to sleeping through the night. I have used it two nights now, and so far so good. She has not woken herself up and wakes up in the morning so happy and rested...me too

I do understand the controversy about this product. It can be dangerous in the wrong hands....but then again, the old way was putting rice cereal in bottles to make babies sleep longer. So if a mother was gonna abuse this product and do it during the day, she doesn't have to buy this product she could do it just as easily with cereal.

I have tried this with my daughter. She is 8 months and still wakes 3 xs per night. I have read so much judgment online on this formula - it makes me sick! I only tried this after seeking advice for several ped's including her own. My daughter is 20 lbs and is waking out of habit now. She doesn't need the nutrition during the night anymore, but I have a hard time with the whole "cry it out method" and have read and tried every other tatic known to man to get her to sleep better! All the ped's assured me that number 1, this wouldn't be harmful to her in any way and number 2, the laws are so extrmemly strict on baby formula that there is no way a product that isn't safe could get on the market. I agree it may not be right for everyone and every baby. Especially younger baby's. But in a situation like mine, I don't feel it is lazy parenting or harmful for my child. As far as my results, I can't say that I've been overly impressed. I haven't seen an improvement in about 2 weeks worth of trying. She still wakes about the same. It hasn't caused any problems though either as far as gas or consitpation etc. Also, for those that asked it does seem a little thicker in consistency.

I'm glad to hear a review!!

And of course - your case is completely understandable. You aren't being lazy, you are trying to solve a legitimate issue for your baby.

It sounds like her body clock has set it self an alarm!! LOL Does she go back to sleep easily or does she seem to need a bottle to fall back asleep. I know with Kaylin, if something wakes her up at night (a siren, me making noise, the dog, etc.) she needs to eat. She can make it all night no problem, but if something wakes her up, she is typically wanting a snack. And a small bottle helps her fall back asleep.

I wish I had ideas to give you, but it sounds like you have exhausted every effort. Hopefully she sleeps through soon!!! Keep us posted!

I am not a medical person, just a grandmother who raised 3 healthy kids.
In the old days, we would thicken the baby formula with some rice cereal so the baby would sleep through the night. It looks like this formula is trying to replicate that feeling. I wouldn't give it to a newborn. You would have to wait to see what the baby's nighttime routine is going to be. If the baby is consistantly gaining weight, it seems that he would need a bit more to sleep through the night.

My Mother found this at Kroger & got it for us to try... My almost 2 month old had been sleeping 4-5 hours on Enfamil Lipil but i thought, what the heck, the more sleep the better! ...That was not the case at all.

They say every baby is different, but My experiences with this formula have been nothing but bad. It is much thicker.. about as thick as cereal or THICKER! it did put my son right to sleep but a couple hours later he woke up fussy. I thought maybe he just needed to adjust, the 2nd & 3rd night he slept as long as he did with the Lipil... but even the next day after giving him the Restful he had a belly ache & was fussy for hours because it took so long to get out of his system... I'm thinking it's just way too heavy on his tummy...

Im Brestfeeding & supplementing with formula at night, My son has done perfectly fine with cereal in his breastmilk... This formula is the same concept as cereal, but doesnt AT ALL compare...

I wouldnt suggest giving this formula to a newborn... AT ALL! I dont think they're tummy's can handle it. Im now ready to throw away the rest of the can! TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!

I BOUGHT THIS TODAY! In the preperation directions it says to let it sit for 5 minutes, and man was it THICK! I mean REALLY thick. My daughter had a hard time sucking it out of the bottle. Plus I use Doctor Browns bottles, and I guess it had a hard time making its way through the vent. Maby I let it sit for a bit too long. I dont know but she passed out right after her feeding. Crossing my fingers for a good night sleep!! Let ya know how it goes!

I admit it I was a sucker and bought it. We tried it a few days ago. You are correct it was CRAZY thick and made the bottle feel really heavy. We had to break out the fast flow nipple for her to drink it. On a normal evening she will drink 4-6oz. She chugged down 6oz of this formula and was still acting hungry. I made her an additional 2oz of normal formula and she drank that as well. Of course I was thinking "sweet 8oz! she is going to sleep forever". Ummm, yeah NO. She was up 4 hours later and hungry.
So it didn't work for us.

i would be scared to use this. My fear is SIDS doenst something that makes a baby sleep longer increase the risk of sids. I was told not to give my babies cold medicines for this reason. I'm surprised that it was allowed on the shelves really. Was there any testing or studies done? Or will this be recalled later with an appology?

I'm just lurking as I saw the title of the post. My co-worker tried this formula with her 3 month old and saw no difference. I just thought I would let you ladies know the results of another person who tried it.

Save your money. It doesn't work. :-( Tried it with my DD and she had colic and fussy for a couple days afterward. My baby slept no different at that time. Just not worth it IMO. I hate I wasted $12 on the can.

trust me, it doesn't work THAT well, lol. Its a sham really. They are promising something that doesn't happen. I'd have better luck feeding my baby gerber oatmeal before bed. It would really fill her up.

Actually, I don't believe it expands in their tummy (scary thought) but instead is thicker and more like getting rice or oatmeal in their tummy along with the formula and so they stay full a lot longer.

Interesting thread. Since baby #3 is on the way I checked out the formula today at WalMart. When I saw this I must say my first thought was WTH? And my second thought was isn't it just like the AR?

It's only been 3 years since I had a baby but it's seems there are lots of new formulas since then.

I have used this formula on my 6 month old. I wouldn't recommend using it on a newborn or any baby younger than 4 months. They wake up for a reason to nurse or bottle feed during those months. But at 6 months they should be able to go for at least 8 hours without eating. My problem was that my baby was waking up 3 times during the night to nurse. I am now weaning him so I thought I would give the restful formula a try. My son now only wakes up once during the night and thats in the early morning hours.
I am now able to sleep more than 2 hours at a time and feel so much more rested during the day. Also at this age they are eating cereal and baby food. They will feel more full through out the day and won't be so hungry at night.

Aloha everyone!

I just want you all to know that I've tried Enfamil Restful.

However, when my son was about 3 months he would cry every 3 hours to feed. But of course thats normal being that they are hungry all the time. I remember being in the baby food section aisle and saw Enfamil Restfull Lipil for bed time only. I was very skeptical about the whole thing, helping babies sleep through the night, even the name sounded odd to me. So I brought it to his pediatrician and she seemed really surprised by it. In common sense she made it clear that babies are fed rice cereal at 4 months, table food at 6 months and so on. So being that Enfamil Restfull Lipil has starch in it, it makes sense to try the product until they reach 6 months.

My son turned 7 months as of June 25th, 2011 - I started him of with Enfamil Restfull Lipil @ 6 months (fed him only at night) and he does great!! He sleeps thru the night and wakes up with a big smile.

I hope this helped, its always safe to ask your babies doctor if you have doubts about new products.

Have a good week!

Can we say either the company is abusing our message board, or this is popping up on some search engine which I highly doubt.

Mead Johnson you could be s little less obvious. Although I still like you because you sent me a free sample of nutramigen aa recently. unfortunately it didn't work but I appreciated it.
