Hello ladies I am a new mom to be (May 2010) and have decided to formula feed. What are your suggestions for formulas. There are so many out there Simalac, Enfamil, Carnation etc. How do I choose?

Any formula is good to start with but it might take some adjusting after wards. If you plan on using WIC you'll probably want to start at the hospital with what they offer (it varies where you live so you might want to check with your local chapter if your not apart already). Congrats on the pregnancy!

Congratulations on your little one!

Good suggestions above

Honestly, it is entirely up to you. Baby formulas are all nearly identical - the FDA regulates them so strictly.

The best place to start is your hospital where you plan on delivering. Each hospital provides mothers/babies with formula for the duration of their stay. Generally they use the 2 oz. nursers. (Enfamil Premium Lipil Nursette 20 cal Ready to Use 2 oz Bottles - 48 Pack - Buy at Diapers.com - Fast Free Shipping) They come in ready-to-feed form and in a bottle. It is also generally the basic, ironfortified formula from whatever brand. (Enfamil Lipil, Similac Advanced, etc.)

I would call your hospital and ask what brand they use. If you want to use what they will be providing, then go ahead and stick with that. If you don't run into any problems, that's GREAT! If not, your pediatrician can also suggest some alternatives to help solve any feeding problems you may run into like gas or acid reflux.
