When scooping powdered formula, do you tap out the air pockets? if you don't, wouldn't the mix be off - or is that considered packing it? I usually do tap it & re-scoop for a full scoop, but don't "pack" it per se, like you would baking. Emily's been constipated w/thick stools, so i wonder if i'm doing it wrong and the formula is too strong. What's the scoop here?

I do what you do, I tap it to let it settle and refill but I don't pack it down. I have no clue if that is right or wrong but in my mind I think it is right because the air pocket could vary in size and therefore it would never be the same amount if you let the air pocket in it, right???? LOL I don't know, in my head it makes sense!

I tap it too to get rid of the air pockets, then top it off and level it. I've wondered about this too, since the formula is supposed to be "unpacked" but he has done fine with it so I just assumed I was doing it okay.

Exactly! Makes sense to me, too. But then, what would packing be- like you do with brown sugar?? I think I'm going to call Gerber tomorrow, so what if they think I'm nuts!

When I used the powder I tapped the side and refilled the scoop til it was level.
I use the liquid right now, since I got a year's supply super cheap when they had a 3.00 coupon for similac...

I do the tap too.. There is a 'lip' of sorts on the can of my formula & i use that to level it off after I've tapped & topped the scoop up
