When your baby reaches 12mo, will you put them on a toddler formula or start them on 'normal' milk?

I plan on starting Emersyn on normal milk.. it's what I did with Gaby - and to be honest she wasn't fussed on milk feeds after 11mo, like me I guess - I hate milk! Gaby ate a lot of yogurt & cheese, but just didn't like her milk. I'm also cheap and can't really justify giving her toddler formula, if she can have normal milk

I'm planning on switching to milk but he's being a slow starter with solids. So if he's still not eating much at 1 year I guess we may have to consider using toddler formula. Fortunately I think WIC would cover it.

Teddy has MFPI (multiple food protein intolerance), so he might be on formula for a LONG time.

We were just talking about this in the May 2010 playroom. I think we're just going to whole milk. What is the deal with toddler formula anyway? Is it just a way for the formula companies to get your money for a few months longer?

we will switch to whole milk, we will probably start a gradual transition starting at 11 months which isn't too far away!

I think a lot of it is this... but of course when there are certain health issues present, I'm sure that the toddler formula is a complete godsend - and probably helps keep a lot of those toddlers in good health!

I'm not sure about over there, but over here it is regularly advertised on TV & the way it's advertised is that if you don't use the toddler formula, your baby is going to be 1000x worse off

I was thinking the same thing. I've seen images of it in infant formula commercials but nothing that specifically advertised it.

I haven't seen a commercial for toddler formula in the US. I didn't realize it existed until I joined these boards.

And I'm sure there are babies who really need toddler formula out there, so I'm glad it's available. For "normal" healthy babies I'm thinking it's probably not necessary. I will probably be spending serious $$ for the fancy organic no growth hormone cow's milk though. I am freaked out by growth hormone!

Well Aleeya is older, but we started whole milk at 12 months old. That lasted for about a day, and she decided she hated it. I can't get her to take milk at all anymore. She eats a lot of cheese and yogurt to make up for it.
